The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, The Counselor, Who reveals the Truth.
John 14:16
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—
John 14:26
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
John 15:26
"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.
John 16:7
But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

In mainstream Christianity, the Holy Spirit is one of the three divine persons of the Holy Trinity who make up the single substance of God; that is, the Spirit is considered to act in concert with and share an essential nature with God the Father and God the Son (Jesus). The Christian theology of the Holy Spirit, or pneumatology, was the last piece of Trinitarian theology to be fully explored and developed. For this reason, there is greater theological diversity among Christian understandings of the Spirit than there is among understandings of the Son and understandings of the Father. Within Trinitarian theology, the Holy Spirit is usually referred to as the "Third Person" of the Triune God - with the Father being the First Person and the Son the Second Person.

The Holy Spirit (Ghost) is a person. If you could see him, he would look just like a person.
When Christ died he said to his Father(God) into your hands I commend my spirit. Christ had a spirit and a body. When he was resurrected, his spirit came back into his body.
The Holy Ghost does not have a physical body, so he can dwell in us and testify of the truth. Perhaps some day he will get a physical body, perhaps during the millenium when Christ is on the earth.
God the Father, Jesus the son and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings, but one in purpose. They are no more the same substance or person than you or I.

The Holy Spirit is represented by a dove.
It is the result of the unending love between Father and Son.
It is eternal like the Father and the Son and together are the holy Trinity. Three persons and one God. It is a mystery that we believe because we have faith. faith is a gift we receive from God. You can pray and ask God for this gift and for all the graces you may need to continue growing in your faith.

My belief is that There are three separate beings, The Father ( who is our Heavenly Father, the Father of all of us as well as Jesus and the Holy Spirit) Jesus (The first born of the Father and our creator and savior as well as our spirtual brother) and the Holy Ghost ( the 3rd member of the Godhood, who does not have a body, but has a spirit and is sent to comfort, guide, prompt, inspire, and warn us) all three of them are members of the GodHead, all three are separate but one in purpose and unified in the cause of bringing us all to immortality and eteranal life (happiness)

He is considered the third person of the "trinity", Who Jesus said would be sent to us in by the Father in His Name, so after He went to heaven to finish His duties as High Priest on our behalf, we would not be alone here on earth, but still would have God with us,...the Holy Spirit would then empower us to live the life of a christian and lead us in paths of truth, and teach us all things and testify of Jesus to us even though he has gone from us for such a long time..while we wait for His return..just read in your bible and see the many things about Him, He even will help you to "pray" so, don't be afraid of the Lord, He is here to help you!...lol...bye!

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Trinity, part and parcel of the Triune God, the Comforter and Counselor. he is not a force or a power, but a person, one with God the Father and God the Son.
