There are some very good compact digital cameras. I'd highly recommend transferring the pictures from your camera to your computer to view the pictures on the big screen before deciding which ones to print. Then keep a copy when you take the other copy to get printed. That way you don't have to worry about the store losing your pictures or anything.

It would be very helpful if you mentioned which model camera you have or given some idea of its spefications in your next question.

If you are referring to one of those mini cameras that you get for $29 at WalMart, it's probably worth a lot less than you paid for it. Those things take crappy pictures.

If you have an camera that takes 1.3 megapixel photos, then it's ok to post online, but not good for full screen images. If you have a 2MP camera, the quality is much better.

You mention developing... there is no developing with digital pictures. If you meant PRINT, then anything higher than a 2MP camera will make an acceptable 4X6 print, but don't go larger because the quality will suffer.

Any resolution lower than 2MP, don't bother wasting ink to print.

Good enough compared to what? They're better than a cheap, disposable film camera, but not as good as an 8.5 or better digital camera. Only you can decide if the pictures are good enough as that is a subjective decision on your part.
