Ellijay is somewhat mountanous but not as much as some other places, if you are looking for a cabin in the mountains and a lot of things to do during the day I would say go to Helen, Ga. Get a cabin on a mountain, There are waterfalls and everything there!

It is a wonderful area. This time of the year they have apple festivals. You can also drive 25 mins north on 515 to Blue Ridge. They have a scenic train and a really nice downtown area. (only one street) Blue Ridge has the lake, rivers, a drive in, and several antique shops. They also have cabin rentals and apple orchards. 20 minutes down the road on Hwy 5, you can see where the Olympics in 96 held the white water rafting. Just moved from the area. I personally like Blue Ridge more than Ellijay. Hope this helps.

Yes it is but really it's the start of the range and I think blue ridge is more mountans than ellijay. I think blueridge ga would more suit what your looking for though.

I like Helen too. It is a quaint little town and has Anna Ruby Falls nearby. It is really pretty.
My favorite day trip (from Atlanta area) to the North Georgia mountain is to go to Tallalah Gorge. It is quite breathtaking!!!

I used to work with a woman from there and saw pictures of her home. It was a beautiful area, all woodsy and a creek. Looked very nice. She said it was in the mountains. I know it's a big apple growing place!

It's east of Dalton, southeast of Chattanooga, and just up from Carter Lake. It's very mountainous.
