I asked for a patriarticle blessing and got a psychic reading of all my wrong doings, I asked for a blessing, not an exposay of my life to expose myself infront of the person taking down the supposed blessing and the patriarc. What kind of God was the mormon God, not a loving God. That was the first strike against the church, then the journal of discourses doctrine that mary was married to God, that would explain why my dad adopted me as a daughter/wife, then the fact that God was a wimp and sent his son to correct everything (little did I know the trinity exsisted, had i known about that concept, i would have never become an atheist). Thus I went astray.

I feel kind of stupid saying this, but... I didn't leave because of any issues I had with the church. I was born and raised LDS and I was very loved and respected and had alot of friends in my church... I left because I wanted more of Jesus and not so much of the stuff about the prophets and history of the church and such. I began listening to something i found on the radio. It fed and filled the empty space I had been feeling. It was praise and worship music and I became united with the Holy Spirit like never before. When my mormon friends cautioned me that it was against our religion, I became confused because I believed that Mormons believe in Jesus, just as those people singing did... even if the Mormon way isn't exactly the way others believe in Him. Eventually I had to go elsewhere to find someone who understood what I was thinking and feeling. Even so... I must say, that in all my years (17 years) outside the mormon circles, I have never met anyone as nice as a Mormon.

I became inactive because I smoked, and couldn't get passed the hypocrisy of that! I had other issues too, that had nothing to do with the Church1 I still believe many of the tenets of the doctrine, not all of them, but most1 which is why I don't have a problem slamming anti Mormons, especially that biatch, Oregon Flower, and others, who claims to know so much, and know nothing!
I don't think there is anything worse than a coward who attacks another man's faith, and then runs! The anti Mormons who slash and bash are so small minded, and spineless cretins, that have no courage to ever say what they believe! They attack Sacred and Holy rites that we hold dear, and then laugh at them, and make snide remarks, and sneer!
Well, I firmly believe that one day they will be called on to defend their actions, and they will have no excuse, whatever, other than meanness, and ignorance! And these comments coming from people who claim to be the Christians, that they say we are not!
Well sweethearts, your come-upence is going to be something, I only wish I could watch!

Because I knew it couldn't be true. If it were true, one prophet's words wouldn't contradict another prophet's words. It also had hallmarks of a cult; encouraged to only associate with mormons, told not to look at any material that would challenge our faith, the extreme emphasis on conformity, the robot-like testimonies that were all the same, the secret temple rituals, the induced-hunger followed by the robotic testimony bearing (classic cult technique- if mormons don't want this association they should make the fast on another day).
I was also put off by the "keeping up with the Jones (Smiths) holiness. Everybody compared themselves to each other instead of God. Also, the rampant hypocrisy, gossip, etc...
Then we have the whole problem of Joseph Smith's integrity or lack thereof.

Where do you want me to start? There are many issues. The easiest response is to say that "I know the church is not true, I know that the Book of Mormon is not the word of God, I know that Joseph Smith is not a prophet of God."
I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Lord over my life.
I know that he saved me from the bondage of Mormonism. I know that the Bible is the word of God.
Come on' LDS hit me with those thumbs down, you know you want to. I promise I won't cry about it.
EDIT-
I believe this question is addressed to x-Mormons. Why do the LDS feel like they have to jump in and defame our responses. We are simply saying why we left the church. If your church has to hire people at FAIR to defend your beliefs doesn't that tell you that something is really wrong?

Excellent question...allows us to understand why they've left.
Thanks to Oregon Flower for the web site.
From this, I've learned it all comes down to Jesus. What the gospels teach, and what mormons teach.
Yeah, I will agree that mormons on a whole are a great people...firm in belief, couragous enough to stand up, faithful in applying their belief...and we have a lot to remember...why aren't we all like that...but dedication to a belief does not warrant it true. (because if it does...the faith that calls for holy martyr/murderers would be more valid).
As for being accused of slash and burn anti-mormonism that won't stick around...I always stick around. Have only seen one mormon (brian vt) ever stand up and say "yes...we teach that you too can become your own god, with your own planet of worshippers".
Still waiting for the more learned mormons to show me this in OT/NT...or even go one farther...show me in the same Bible that Jesus and lucifer are brothers.

There is only one person who gave an answer that I respect on here and that is Carpe Dium. Thank you. Oregon Flower, that website is completely inaccurate and you and the person who wrote that OBVIOUSLY have no clue about the LDS faith. Until you have lived the life, read the teachings, and embraced the religion you have no right to say anything because the fact of the matter is you are ignorant unless you have. All of the answers on this question are making me sick with disgust at all of you and hey it isn't because I'm LDS its because you all are hypocrites who do not and I mean do not have your facts straight.

I left because mostly I did not feel the Book of Mormon was a true gospel, and I did not like how they kept replacing it with the Bible.
It is not a bad church at all, just a little mislead.
