Could you help me cut some corners? Any special model you would recommend. Special wording I could use to find exactly what I need within the first hours of looking. My husband is like my mother, in that they think you type in what you want and it takes you directly there. Any help is really, really appreciated. Thank You

Go to antennaweb.org

They don't recommend specific models, but at least they recommend the antenna gain you need to access the closest stations to your home.

When I used to live on a farm about 80miles away from the TV transmitting site we needed a tall mast (40 foot) , a rotator wasn't required for us because the signals were all coming from the same area.

As well as the tall mast we used phased tv antennas , that is , many tv antennas connected together with cables to form one extremely high gain antenna.
This was then fed into a mast head amplifier to further boost the signal , making up for the losses in long antenna feed line.

My recommendation is to find a TV antenna installer that specializes in custom country installations.

They will know what products are available and what works best in your area.

Old Chinese proverb... very old, very wise.

ROTSA RUCK!

Television is line-of-sight transmission. Curvature of the earth limits the range. If you could mount a TV antenna a few thousand feet in the air, you might have some luck, but the FAA would be all over you for interfering with aircraft.

TV antennas are good for about 10 - 20 miles. Maybe 30, with additional equipment and expense, and still with a lot of luck, too. If you need range in excess of your immediate area, then I recommend cable or satellite.
