I hear what you are saying
I thought the basis of religion and spirituality was love.
Sometimes it looks like war.
It evokes much passion.
I don't answer questions that are obviously snippy
The use of specific words I find a hoot
I am sure "atheists" are not all the same in their belief, it is written as if it is a religion in its own right.
The word religion is misused often.
I know that a christian is someone who believes in God, but then so do many other people who don't call themselves christian.
I embrace the good the bad and the ugly.
We are all of God.
We are all conceived as love.
We all have egos which try to control the mind.
We all want to be loved, held and acknowledged.
We all have fears
We have all loved and lost someone
Nobody wants to be snuffed out
Most people love little helpless animals. babies, sunsets and being happy.
We have more similarities than differences.
Nobody wants war,
We are all here to connect.
We are what we put our energies into
What are you putting your energy into today.
Bless you for the question, I trust it will calm the waters

Post mortem microwave....lol. That was brilliant.
The issues are hotly contested, but if certain people would leave certain other people alone and quit trying to witness to everyone- maybe we'd all get along alot better.

A very good reason indeed.......
As an atheist I object to the excessive influence that Christians have in MY everyday life. If I do not fight my corner they will totally control everything by default, including what I can and cannot believe in and very much more.
The theocratic society they want is one of the greatest evils facing mankind and will take us back to the dark ages.
Science would be a thing of the past.

I hate nobody here, you'd have to be very dumb to hate someone you met on the Internet. However it's religion so some people are a bit loony as you'd expect. Btw, isn't that the Hydra in your avatar? I always had Set down as a gigantic red hippopotamus.

lol I like that...post mortem microwave. I don't think people on here actually hate each other (I could be totally wrong though)...it's one of those "I'm right and you're not and here, let me prove it" kinda things.

I haven't noticed any hotly contested questions on here lately. I thought Yahoo Answers was going to clean this site up.

Part of it is our culture. We are much more contentious these days, more confrontational, more 'in your face'.
Part of it is political. In fact the line between politics and religion in the US is more blurred than I ever remember it before
And I really think part of it is economics. People are fighting for a bigger share of a shrinking pie. So it's easier to get people riled up with an 'us against them' argument.

I think it's got a lot to do with boredom. Whatever you know and/or believe is true to you usually no matter what anyone says. No one is getting converted to one side or another. It's easier for some to judge people anonymously.....

Some people are butts, but when you have so many question and answers, theres bound to be disagreement and so on. I try to be polite (at least most of the time tho)

I don't hate anyone. I think some people do this stuff just for a joke. Maybe that is the way they get their frustrations out.
