We just got her, shes about 8-12 months old. Her breed is German Shepard and something else. The raper "King Size" said 2.8 ounces but i don't know how much she weighs and i'm 16.. And i don't want my puppy to die, and i don't have money to take her to the vet, so if someone can please help me! She also has a full belly and she ate the chocolate about 20-30 mins ago and i don't see anything wrong. This is scary. Please respond fast.

Give her a few drops of Hydrogen peroxide, this will help her to regurgitate the chocolate.

Your dog should be just fine. The good thing is he threw it up after he ate the Reese's peanut butter cup because, so most likely it got most of it out of his system. Your dog is a big dog so 3 Reeese's peanut butter cups will not hurt him. The first thing you can do is to call your vet and tell them what happened and see if they want you to bring your dog in so they can be examined. Or they may tell you to just watch your dog. If he starts to vomit a lot, have diarrhea and acts lethargic or just not himself, then you need to take your dog to the vet. They can give your dog medications and IV fluids to flush the toxins from the chocolate out of your dog's system. Chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine which are toxic and can cause organ damage, liver failure, increased heart rate, nerve damage and in serious cases it can cause death. With your dog, the good thing is he's a big dog so he didn'tr eat enough chocolate to cause any serious health problems. Also, a Reese's peanut butter cup is made of milk chocolate, which does not contain much theobromine or caffeine. The chocolates that really are harmful to dogs are the darker and bittersweet chocolates. In a Reese's peanut butter cup, there's actually more peanut butter than there is chocolate, so that is also a good thing for your dog. So just watch your dog. He may have an upset stomach for a day or so and maybe a little diarrhea. The good thing is that he threw up not too long after eating the Reese's so he most likely got it out of his system. It's also good that he only threw up 1 time. If he has an upset stomach he may not want to eat much of his dog food today but do try to make sure he drinks water so he does not get dehydrated. Dogs are like children. When they find something the first thing they do is put it in their mouth and eat or swallow it. So it's always important to put all candy and anything else that may harm your dog out of his reach. Your dog should be fine. It's good that you care enough about your dog to ask what you can do to help your dog. Your dog should be just fine. Watch him today just to be on the safe side. Best of luck with your dog. Hope I helped.

She will be fine because ;
1) there isn't much chocolate in a Reese Cup
2) It is the dark chocolate that is dangerous not the milk chocolate.
If this ever happens again (hopefully not) and it is a lot of chocolate and dark chocolate you give hydrogen peroxide, just pour it down her throat. If she hasn't vomited in 10 minutes, give more until she does begin to vomit. Put her outside because she won't only throw up the chocolate, but everything in her stomach and she will be sick more than once.

It will be okay - my dog has done the same (shes a bit over a year about 50 lbs)... continue to monitor her and if she starts to act very lazy or oddly take her to the vet. SHe may puke on her own (watch for her to kind of make a heavy coughing noise and shaking) or get diahrerra. Keep her outside, monitor her and try to give her water... dont give her any medicine unless directed by the vet. (Especially the hydrogen peroxide) suggseted by the other answerer...

I know a dog that ate a candy bar a day and lived to a ripe old age. Not recommended but then candy bars have too much sugar as well.

http://www.vet.purdue.edu/vth/SACP/chocolate_toxicity.htm

"Considering that the average chocolate bar contains 2-3 oz of milk chocolate, it would take 2-3 candy bars to produce toxicity in a 10 lb dog. However, a single ounce of baking chocolate could produce severe toxicity in the same size dog."

OK, relax- if she's a German shepherd, she is probably at least 30 lbs. which means that there's likely not enough chocolate in three Reese's cups to kill her. She will probably either throw up or have diarrhea, so be on the lookout for that. If she starts acting lethargic or weird, take her to the vet right away so they can do something.

Call the animal poison control center or your vet. They will tell you if you need to do anything. Don't give her anything except what you are told by a professional. My dog (Great Pyrenees) at bunch of dark chocolate one night and I took her to the vet, they couldn't do anything but she was fine. I learned a HARD lesson! Keep everything away from counter cruisers. Hope she's o.k.!

Ok calmn down. My puppy was WORSE she got into hearshy kisses and if she were to eat 1 more ounce she would of died :(. I say don't do anything unless you see these symtoms..

1. She/he won't move and is shivering

2. won't eat ANYTHING

3. keeps on wining non-stop

If she has these symtoms take her to the vet SOON! but im sure 3 reeces wont hurt.

good luck to you and your German Shepard

Don't worry your puppy will be fine. She didn't eat enough to make her die or anything. Just keep the chocolate away from her in the future.

we fed my dog oreos when we though he was dying (he had an infection in his leg that we thought was cancer) so that he would he could have a treat. not many just 3-4 & he didnt die from either thing so you're dog is probably going to be fine, like all the others are saying. she will throw it up, or poo it out so watch out for that but i'm sure she will be fine.
