I'm not sure what you mean by early christian community. I will take it to mean apostolic christianity in Palestine before the siege of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. If so, 4 characteristics of the early christians were:
1. Non-violence
2. Communalism (shared goods and lived simply)
3. Apocalyptic (felt that Jesus would soon return)
4. Jewish (kept a modified jewish-christian version of the Torah)

1. It was Jewish for about 10 years, then the Gentiles joined.
2. It was taught in synagogues.
3. It was persecuted.
4. It was incredibly blessed. They served each other.
May I recommend some beautiful audio files called "The People Known as the Early Christians," by Elhanan Ben-Avraham at Netivyah in Jerusalm, linked.

Mark 16: 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
