My dog is pregnant and is due to deliver any day now. She has been pretty steady with her temperature, but everyone says that if her temperature drops to 98 degrees, she will have the puppies within 24 hrs. What does it mean now that her temperature went back up? Will she still have the puppies within 24 hours?

Dogs temp changes very often several degrees they don't sweat. They cool themselves by breathing. To check what you are asking you should first check her temp then pay close attention and see if she is panting with short breaths after no excercise if so then she is contracting and temp is droping because of the panting. If she has just been moving and then sits down she will be panting and her temp will drop becasue of that. So you should check her temp when she is and has been calm and at rest for a little while.

Dog's body temperatures fluctuate on a daily basis- just like OURS do. I wouldn't use it as an indicator that her puppies are coming. (But keep THIS in mind; this Wednesday- is the Full Moon... & Full Moons are a common time for things to be born on... :) ).

The temperature will fluctuate, it can change every hour. Relax, just keep an eye on her. The best sign to use is her behavior---she will become restless.
