A solar panel the size of Texas might supply half the U,S. One can not begin to fathom the power usage of the United States.

Solar panels in a *good* spot converting 15% of 1,000W per square meter for an average of 12 hours per day. If they are not "tracking", multiply by .7 for non-normal incidence.
