I think you have potential as a guitar player. It's a pretty good start, but the thing i can't stress enough to you is phrasing. Yes you can fit a lot of notes in a short amount of time, thats good for when you just need to tear a particular phrase to pieces, but also some of the best solo's I've ever heard consist of four note played with style. One thing that helped me out a lot was taking pretty much any blues songs and figure out which key its in and just jamming a pentatonic minor scale over the top of it. Try this.....look up the Am Pentatonic scale and find the song While My Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beatles and just jam the Am Pentatonic scale over the top of it

You're not bad for less than a year. If you really care about your progression on the instrument you may want to consider taking private lessons for awhile. You'll be amazed at how much sitting down with a good teacher once in awhile can speed things up.

I honestly think its the most fun to start with simple blues stuff like BB King or a couple easy Stevie Ray Vaughan tunes. That stuff really helps with intonation, rhythm, and feel. After playing that kinda stuff for a year or two most generic rock/metal will just seem ridiculously simple. But play whatever you're into.

Just a tip for the long haul. I've been playing for about 4 years on guitar and I'm just now really seeing how important it is to start practicing control (tempo/technique/theory) more than simply trying to play something real fast, hope you find that out a little sooner...

For a guy that has been playing for less than a year, you are doing quite well. Would I pay $50 a ticket to watch you play? No... not yet... keep playing - you're good for a guy with only a year's experience but you need more time in on it. Post another video in a year.

Good god, man.

I guess I'm the only one to say this but - I could never sit down and listen to that - way too noisy and unorganized sounding...but don't stop. Play to your hearts content!
