If I get your meaning, I'd say no better. It used to be the Calvinists who were so arrogant. Now, I'm really sad to say, almost everybody is acting like they own the truth. I'm not talking about atheists here, but the faith people. I can't believe G-d finds this attractive.
If you mean the atheists, it's no different, but it's insignificant. I mean who cares? If it does not pertain to G-d, it's import is brief and quickly passing or nonexistent.

I have seen atheists act "holier than thou," (in the sense that they think they are better than religious people) and I have seen religious people act "smarter than thou."

People who are "smarter than thou" are less likely to believe they can be "holier than thou".

Not really, as long as you are using the term "smart" in opinion form. But if you are refering to someone that is actually mentally challanged then it is different because it is a proven fact.
