Yes. If you are becoming Cristian, don't listen to everyones opinions on Christianity, make YOUR choice, not someone elses.

I think that's reasonable, yes, as long as you mean "finding" metaphorically.

I seem to function just fine in life without such a belief, and since there's also no evidence for the existence of a god, I don't believe in any.

I could find no biblical support for your question. The bible does however, support the fact that you have to believe that he is, that he does in fact exist, and seek him, and you shall find him. The bible teaches us that man knows God exists from the very world around him.
