Determine the unbreakable rules of a dogmatic religion...any one will do....
Then break every single one of those rules. You could skip the ones that are obviously a good idea if you want...like "don't kill yourself" or "don't kill anyone else".
But go right ahead and eat meat and dairy products simultaneously, or wipe with your right hand, or step on a bug, or speak / act in anger, have sex out of wedlock, change spiritiual beliefs, work on the "holy day", eat a lobster, don't spread the true faith with a sword, refuse to baptize your ancestors in absentia, don't pay for treatments to get rid of your mitochlorians, don't give 10% of your wealth to charity, keep your personal life private, and go right ahead and put squirrels in your pants for purposes of gambling.
Hey wait....that last one is just illegal in Missouri, not immoral in the sight of the Almighty. Sorry about that.
Observe what happens next. Feel free to blaspheme "His holy name" (specific gender is pretty much a given since so many of the worst are paternalistic theocracies) while you wait.
Live a long and retribution-free life. Proceed to whatever awaits post-mortem. Suffer zero demerits in the afterlife.
Pretty simple. A life conducted according to what each individual thought was right, without following the rules of any antique goat-humper, wandering sheep herder, hack author, 380lb advocate of self denial and moderation, child molester, political activist, or hermit.
And no loving god to cast you into Hellfire at the end.
Go figure.

I doubt if there can be one. A book can record people's experiences and so can many other forms of media. No criticism can ever be definitive. In the end you have to make your own mind up.
The best advert for religion is in the living of it and it's achievements - but how do you measure them? What is pure logic for one is rubbish to another.

I feel that , certainly the Christian religion, is manufactured, relies on and is aimed at the gullible and is built around superstition, incantations and trinkets. I was originally a Church of Scotland protestant, became Roman Catholic 10 years ago and eventually realised what a complete con all religion is.

History-
Organized religion has long been used to control the masses....through fear.
Horrible things have been done in the name of God.

From the point of view of a guy who's heard so many religious ideas, he has no idea what to beleive anymore. That way, he's knowledgeable, but unbiased.

Amen Je Marche!
I'm amazed at how people have managed to screw up the most simple, most beautiful message in the bible...God loves you.
Love wins.
