it's funny how you say, "you people". As a member of society, you are just as complicit as everyone else.

Also, it's not "these days". Human nature hasn't changed much in the last few thousand years. When given power over others, a certain percent of people will abuse it. How is a Taser different than a gun or a sword or a club. Hundreds of years ago instead of being tasered someone would have been arrested and tortured in some way.

Also, I doubt the incidence of abuse is any higher it's just that technology allows us to know about it. When a guy gets tasered it's on Youtube the same day. Twenty years ago if the police beat someone up it wouldn't even make the papers.

So, humanity continues along our path the same as we always have, but perhaps a bit more aware of our problems.

Since I have no idea what video you are referencing, I'll wing it. Do I believe that Police Brutality exists? Absolutely! There are bad police officers, just as there are bad people in any other profession. The problem with your rant is that you are using an isolated incident to say that all police are abusers.

Now for the point driver, I'll assume that you are Hispanic, because your screen name is "Alejandra" and I'll also assume that you are female. There was a Hispanic female near my town that had a baby and killed it and dumped the body in a dumpster, so am I to assume that all Hispanic females are baby killers? Of course not, that would be ludicrous, but it shows the same logic you are using on Police Officers.

If you disapprove of the police, the next time you need help, call a criminal. Over 90% of law enforcement serve their communities with pride and honor doing a job that few of us would attempt. Give the good cops the respect they deserve.

Okay - first of all, not ALL police officers are "abusers" (as you so eloquently put it.) -- are there some "bad" police officers who let their sense of authority get the better of them? Yes.

And do those "bad" police officers get a LOT of press and media coverage - of course!

But are those officers representative of the entire police force or police officers in general -- absolutely not.

It's a thankless job where many of them suffer from depression and get "burned-out" because they're forced to deal with the worst people in the community every single day. They're under a lot of stress because they could be KILLED at any moment while doing their job. Most of them do the best they can - and will be first people to throw themselves into harms way to protect the people in our communities... I don't see a whole lot of appreciation for what they do - but I sure as hell hear a lot of complaining about the mistakes they make.

They're people - they're not machines. They'll make the occassional mistake and there are consequences to those mistakes.

If you don't like the police - then don't call them the next time you need help.

There is a difference between expressing your political views and making a nuisance of yourself. You don't have the right to upset a gathering on private property that someone else has paid for. You do not have the right to use up everyone else's time just so you can spout your opinion.

You didn't exactly see the crowd expressing displeasure or alarm that he was tasered and then dragged out did you? That would be because all of them also felt he deserved it.

I think you are generalizing when you say "Police these days..." So you think every police officer in the world is an abuser? Come on! As any police officer will tell you, they deal with the worst of the worst on a daily basis. Try being nice to someone who is being abusive and hostile. It can be quite difficult yet police deal with this type of person daily.

I did not see this particular video but it sounds like the jerk got what he had coming to him.

He went over his allotted time. He was originally told to exit the podium. He was then going to be escorted off the stand, only to pull from officers. This is in fact OBSTRUCTING/ RESISTING... The officers on scene used great restraint by not using more force. Rules say officers can use force to enact an arrest. That force must be more than the resistors because society must win, not the law breaker. The was no obsessive force...Get over it.

Your not another one of those bleeding heart liberals are you? What did you not understand??? The subject being tasered was under arrest for disorderly conduct. He resisted arrest and continued for several minutes to resist arrest after being told several times to cooperate. Create a public disturbance and then resist arrest and you deserve to be tasered. Get a clue, that is not police brutality

You better watch that video again. Watch how he refuses to leave when they shut the mic off. Watch how the officers try to get him to go peacefully. Watch how he breaks their grip and rushes towards the stage. Watch how they have to drag him out. Watch as they try to pin him to the ground, but his arms keep swinging at the officers. Then watch him get tazed, as he deserves.

The officers just wanted him to leave. He had several chances. He was the one who chose the outcome, not the officers.

Art V... you have an excellent point. (ie only has two letters, and he couldn't even get that right!)

He was resisting arrest and becoming violent in a public place. They told him they would taser him if he did not stop resisting. He did not stop, so they tasered him. In the past he would have been hit with a baton, pepper sprayed, or shot. All of these are worse than being tasered (I have been pepper sprayed and hit with batons). Basically, you are completely wrong. The police, in most instances, are much less abusive than they used to be.
