Don't find any reason to believe any of it? Would Christians then recommend abandoning reason in order to "believe"?
BTW this is exactly the experience of many atheists.

Should I try this with the Koran next?

Gracie Carlene: Thanks; I've gone to a number of Christian churches, went to a Christian college, worked at a Christian church, joined Bible study groups and Christian search groups, et cetera. I have no desire to believe anything I don't find intellectually honest in the first place. I was just wondering if Christians would generally tell me to abandon reason.

byHisgrace: So is my heart "calloused" because I don't believe the Koran is factual either? How do I know I shouldn't be "softening" my heart to the Koran or to any other holy book?

The thing about belief and faith, is that you believe something, even though there isn't any physical evidence to support it. It's what you believe to be true. You don't have to explain it or defend it to anyone else because you know that that is what you believe. You don't question it or look for proof, because the Bible is the only proof that you need.

I wonder if it is your approach that has hindered you in your search and your goal. Many people go to the Bible with their minds already made up. They try to 'prove' their belief instead of believing what Jesus says. I suggest that you go to a pastor, talk with her/him, commit yourself to a say, eight week study, and with others, study the Word of God. It does no good reading the Bible from cover to cover if you don't understand what you're reading. Christianity is all about a personal relationship with Jesus, the son of God. One needs to study the Bible to get to know just what Jesus is all about and what He has done in yours and my behalf. Those things need to be discussed. No one expects a person to just believe anything that is thrown at them. Reason is a very important part of the Christian faith. God is not afraid of reason. In fact,God said, "Come! let us reason together." So you see, dear one, God wants to listen to your reasonings also. He also says, "Seek and you will find....knock and the door will be opened to you." You need someone to guide you through God's Word and answer your questions. Understand that this search is all about Salvation - about life and death. So it's worth rightly dividing the Word of Truth. If you're serious in your search, then I would do as I have suggested, and I would not entertain any other avenues or arguments until you have exhausted all options. Learn how to pray. Ask the pastor to guide you in this. It is your soul that is at stake. As a Christian and an ordained minister, I assure you, God is waiting for you to come to Him. You must come as a little child.... believing... not distracted...believing there is a God who cares for you. My prayers are with you.

I would suggest you have NOT opened your heart, which your heart in the Bible is your spirit. If you had, it would be filled with Jesus IF you truly ASKED Him to come in and FILL you will his LOVE and Himself. IF you surrendered your sin-nature and asked Him to "make you a new creature", then it would be done and NOTHING can stop it.
Genuine honesty is all it takes and the true realization that you are separated from God and NEED a Savior. Of course, Father God could care less what "religious denomination" you want to participate in, all He cares is that you have received the plan He alone made for your salvation and rescue from your sin nature.
Jesus is "the Way" our Father in heaven provided for us. "Opened you heart"?? I don't t-h-i-n-k so... It's not an intellectual decision..., it is a drawing of your heart to the Father by way of Jesus.

I know exactly what you mean, I have been raised in the church and it never felt real to me. I never felt God. So then it was totally easy to be like what am I even believing in! But it is when you really FEEL God that you just know He is real. Honestly I still have my doubts once in a while, but then I know how I feel when I am nto right with God and just doing my thing and yes sometimes I am happy but it is nothing compared to the joy God brings. I am truly happy when I am right with God. No matter what comes. There are hard times and bad things that happen to EVERYONE because that is life! But that is when I trust in God more and He brings peace. My 'reason' to believe is because who He makes me and leads me.

If you also put your brain to your faith , you should read the Quran,
Quran is meant for mankind not only for Arabs or Muslims,
You don't find any reason to believe in Bible , the reason is that,
" Bible is not 100% word of God through Jesus",
it contains many more things which mess-up the true teachings of Jesus(PBUH),
whereas in Glorious Quran,
"cover to cover words are from God the creator"
not a single word is from anyone else even Mohammad(PBUH) himself,
May God open your HEART for reality, your effort worth it,
God bless.

I would say your heart has not been softened or opened to God's Word. You are not TRULY SEEKING to know Him, or you would find Him. Jesus said "Seek and ye shall find."
God knows your heart, and if you are not truly seeking the truth, you will never find it. It sounds like your heart is calloused.
Have you ever repented of your sins? If you don't even acknowledge you have sin, you cannot repent of them. You either believe, or you don't.

They might, but then again another angle of seeing the situation may be to look elsewhere besides Christianity. Follow your intuition, it could just be that maybe it is a message from God.

My thoughts are that you would need to go back to the book of Romans and re read it.
Perhaps you opened your heart to a specific thing or event that needed to happen for you to believe.
For your heart to be open, you would have to leave it up to God and abandon all demands that you may be needing in your head.
In the end, if GOD has not chosen you to come to him, you cannot come to him. Yet, if you have felt the need to come to GOD, then that is God calling you.
If you have not felt the need to come to GOD, then no amount of reading, or church attendance is going to change that.
Only you know if God has given you the desire to seek him, or if you are seeking yourself and trying to attach God to self.

In order to believe by Faith you would have to. It isn't something I'd tell you to do as a last resort...I'd tell you to do this firsthand.
Considering you can't come to God unless you believe He exists in the first place, through Faith. (The evidence of things Not seen.)
