I want to have our wedding at the Perth Zoo.
http://www.perthzoo.wa.gov.au/Events/Functions/Weddings/
on the main green with marquee tents
http://www.oasistents.co.uk/content/Photo4.html sort of like this tent village, but inside like
http://www.flickr.com/photos/stiffydagold/1442912179/ just bigger, maybe 10 people in each though probably not sitting on the ground (for the sake of people aged 50+).
Between the ceremony and the reception the guests can wander the zoo, pick up refreshments from the reception tents and head off again and we can have photos taken in the tropical gardens. There is an antique style carousel which we will hire for the guests and maybe have a snake handler.
The cake will be

and the food will be pretty and all our favourites

http://www.flickr.com/photos/pannacotta/511083205/ those are just a few things we might have.
The reception will be pretty straight forward except I don't want people sitting at their tables all night so I would like to have braziers just off side of the tents for people to congregate around and chat.

There will be a candle or lantern boundry around the site.http://www.flickr.com/photos/minouzers/168864713/.
I have never been to a wedding like this, nor have I seen it done so I think it is original, and should be fun (if I can convince my partner of it all). This is what I want to do because it speaks of my personality in so many ways.
You should find what is unique about you and put that in your wedding. I hope it helped you for ideas.

You're not going to have a wedding that is completely original because everything has been done. Just be happy and enjoy your day! I agree with the others, you should try to do some of the things yourself to add a personal touch to it. Make your favors and centerpieces or something along those lines.
I hope you have fun planning for your wedding!

In weddings, there's really nothing new under the sun. You could get married in a cave in total darkness, I suppose. Just incorporate the things you both like or enjoy, do as much as is reasonable yourself, and take it from there. It will be unique because the two of you are unique, not because you thought of something so unusual that no one has ever seen or done it.
Best wishes!

Original in my area of the world, may be old hat to someone else in theirs. You need to find what's original to your place on the rock. for example I saw someone post that the 'new trend' is to have slideshows of the bride and groom growing up - we've been doing it here for the past 20 years and is already considered a cliche'. I personally don't know of anyone who has had a photo booth at their wedding, but go to New York City and it's 'been there, done that'.
Go with what you want and to heck with 'I need it to be original' - it'll be original because it's you doing it!

How about weddings and marriage and love as themes? You have the whole rest of your life to throw Arabian Nights and Roaring Twenties parties, but this is the only chance you'll ever have to be the guest of honor at a wedding. And the only chance your parents will ever have to glow and shine with pride in front of all their family and friends as their beautiful daughter (or handsome son) gets married. Save the role playing for the honeymoon.

There are certain elements of all weddings that are similar, but I believe every wedding is unique in that it reflects the taste and personalities of the bride and groom, I think you should concentrate on those things and make it personal to you two rather than trying to be "unique"

Decide on a theme that reflects on your personality...and your relationship together. I would do as much as I can myself...it adds an even more personal touch.
I would avoid silly traditions that are only invented by the wedding industry to make money, or traditions invented by churches, that have nothing really to do with god.

We did Fiesta theme. Tacos, mariachi, sombreros and mini maracas for favors. Made for an economical but beautiful wedding. Very colorful to say the least.

I don't know, I'm planning my wedding based on what my fiance and I like as opposed to being original.
