I have a sony cybershot dsc-w80 and I think I might have gotten a fingerprint on the lens because all of a sudden the pictures are blurry. How can I go about wiping off the lens without hurting it?

Get a lens cleaning kit from a camera store. Put a drop of cleaning solution on the lens tissue (not on the lens itself) and gently wipe in a circular motion until the smear is removed.

Take it to your local camera store and ask them to help. Then buy a lens cleaning cloth from them. If your camera accepts filters, buy a Skylight 1A from them. If your camera needs an adapter to use filters, buy it from them. Keep the filter on 24/7 unless you're using a polarizer.

Many years ago while at an art fair I was trying out my new 85mm f1.7 lens (approx. $400 in 1976). Someone with a high acidity level in their fingers touched the Skylight filter I had bought with the camera. It left a permanent smudge. I happily replaced a $15 filter. Fortunately, I had an extra Skylight filter with me.
