I grew up Southern Baptist and i believe this relegion is way to strict on things that don't matter, i am a devoted christian and want to change to be Episcapol but i don't know if it's wrong to allow bits and pieces of other relegions into your dominant relegion...
Christanity is not made up from other relegions and neither is any other relegion... everyone has their own point of view and no one should shun or bring down anyone who isn't the same relegion the other person is. I don't nessasrly believe in anything way diffrent other than Christianity but i do believe in some point of views that Wiccans have, like i don't think that man is over animals, and i believe that nature is VERY important to us, and i believe that man and woman are equal. but i don't consider myself a Wiccan. is this worng?

I am a spiritualist. I have certain beliefs that combine ideas from all faiths. It is right for me. I am happy the way my life is. It combines the mysticism that is real to me, and fuses that with the beliefs that I was raised with. Do what you feel is right for you, and forget what others tell you to do...

Don't let religion get in the way of having a relationship with God.

The Book of James says that the only religion that is true and pleasing to god is taking care of the orphans and widows.

Here are a couple of suggested readings:

By Don Miller: Blue Like Jazz, and Searching for God Knows What

By Rob Bell: Velvet Elvis and Sex God

I've also heard that Brennan Manning is good, but haven't read any of his stuff yet. I will be soon.

Take care. Continue to ask questions. Any God that answers all of your questions isn't a God worth worshipping.

Both Southern Baptists and Episcapalian Churches accept the Bible. So if you are a devoted Christian then hang on to the Bible. If something distracts from that...no matter how "cool" or "inticing" it is...leave it alone.
I have never found a group with which I absolutely agree with everything l00%. But I try to find people with whom there is a commonality and make my home there. For example, I am the only person in my congregation who covers their head as a matter of dress. It doesn't really bother me that I am the only one...we agree on the things that matter most...the basic doctrines of Jesus, and service to mankind.
As to man being over animals or not, the Bible is quite clear. In Genesis 1:28,29, it says,"God blessed them(meaning Adam and Eve) and said, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea, and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.' Then he goes on to give them plants for food.
It seems that they were vegetarian until after the flood of Noah's time. He repeats what he said to Adam to some degree in Genesis 9:1-5, about the being over animals, and then says they can eat meat, but to be sure not to eat the blood in it. We are accountable for every animal we kill.
Yes, we are over the animals...but we are responsible for them. We are responsible for how we take care of the Earth.

Just because you agree with a few points in another religion doesn't mean you ARE that religion. So the fact that you cherish nature and see men and women as equal should not be seen as betraying Christianity. Yes, Wiccans believe both of those things, but they aren't unique to Wicca by any means. You don't worship as a Wiccan, so there's no reason to consider you Wiccan! Thinking that men and women are equal is not bringing Wicca into your religion - its simply holding a viewpoint that is common in Wiccans...along with lots and lots of other people. As for nature...perhaps you should read about the Catholic St. Francis of Assisi. He was fascinated with nature.

To flip it around, I am Wiccan, but I think Jesus had a lot of good things to say. It just happens that "believe I'm your savior" isn't one of them. Having nice things to say about Jesus doesn't make me a Christian. ;) Don't worry about it.

It sounds like you are serious and if you are a child of God,
Here's a good way to get it straight, start all over again and read the Bible asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth and then be prepared to give up your false anything; teaching ,believing and wrong doctines, your opinion etc: and believe what God says; after all, He wrote it =)
I did this and have learned a great deal, most of what we were raised to beleive is not what God's word says;
you will be amazed at what you learn and it is so simple and not hard to believe

It is wrong to take a view that is different then God's point of view. We are to renew our minds and not let them be conformed to the way the world thinks. However, we do have the freedom to enjoy life and to take the blessings of this earth and enjoy them.
Please take the time to find truth about your feelings. Is it because someone hurt you or because the church you attend is dull and boring? Find the answer then resolve the issue before you and God. He is willing to send someone into your life who will give you the best answers for your questions. Just continue to believe in Jesus Christ as he is the only one true and living God.

DENOMINATIONS do not matter to God!
All you need is Gospel of Thomas verse 77.
You can find it at The Nag Hammadi Library online use a search engine.
Once you read the verse all that matters is having a relationship with Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace

Please explain for me, do Southern Baptists believe in the creation account of Genesis? if so was God lying when He gave man dominion over the Fish of the sea, the Birds of the air and all beasts and cattle.
Nature is a wonderful creation of God but you seem to place it above God and this is wrong .

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment. Heb. 9:27

We are judged by the Ten Commandments.

Ever told a lie?
Ever hated anyone? See 1 John 3:15
Ever lusted after someone? See. Matt. 5:27-28
Ever blasphemed?

For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. James 2:10

Lawbreakers go to hell.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor. 6:9-10

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal. 5:19-21

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Rev. 21:8

This is clear and humbling. However God made a way so we wouldn't have to go to hell. Jesus (God in flesh) came to earth, lived a sinless life, and was crucified on our behalf. He rose three days later defeating death and in turn giving us an escape route from hell. But Jesus did command us to repent. That means to turn from sin to God. The perfect example of repentance is found in Psalm 51.

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15

I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Luke 13:3

Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

You see when you repent God gives you a new heart and new desires and they are desires to serve Him. As a result you are biblically born again! That my friend is good news!

Depends. Do you want to be a christian? Or do you want to belong to a religion? A christian can't pick and choose what they believe. It is Jesus and nothing else. Religion can take many forms. You can choose which church to attend, but if it is not a bible believing church you have just gotten religion. You need Jesus or it is all in vain.
