Why is it considered saintly for a Christian Nun to cover-up and be modest in her attire but it is considered oppressive if a Muslim women is modest and covered-up?
For Muslim women it is respecting their God when they don't wear promiscuous clothing that show thongs and have purposes to attract men, same with Nuns.

the Bible to the First Epistle to the Corinthians, chapter 11. Read verses 3-10.

"But I would have you know that the head of every man is Christ and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered, disgraces his head. But every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered disgraces her head, for it is the same as if she were shaven. For if a woman is not covered, let her be shaven. But if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her cover her head. A man indeed ought not to cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man. For man was not created for woman, but woman for man. This is why the woman ought to have a sign of authority over her head, because of the angels."

It isn't Islamic to make force God's teaching on someone and it is also counter-productive anyway. The reason why some countries make women wear a light head-covering is because that is their culture. Just like how you would have a man walking down the street with no pants or underwear on in the United States - that would seem awkward and wrong. There are different levels of nakedness for different folks.

cthemagicofdaw- How ironic that you would write such nonsense and hatefulness and in the same time write "God Bless". With a comment like that, you know nothing about God.

cthemagicofdaw- I do blame you for your ignorance and stupidity. I have many Christian friends and you're just embarrassing. Please don't tarnish the Christian name and God's name.

cthemagicofdaw - I didn't reply back to you in "over 2 hours" is because I left and didn't see your message. Some people have lives. I don't waste time with such people the likes of you. It is pointless to engage in a rational debate when you're so closed-minded and vile. You're a worthless person mascaraing as a Christian. This is going to be my last message to you, on this question anyway - but before I leave I wanted to inform you that you attract more bees with hunny not vinegar.

I'm a Muslim woman and I grew up without putting the scarf but I knew deep down that it's what my creator has asked me to do and eventually I have worn it when I was in college (23years old)
and nobody oppressed me or obliged me to!!!

Why you people insist that women are oppressed??

EDIT: cthemagi. Take it easy man!!! It seems you forgot that King Henry 8th used to burn the protestants alive in Britain. What you heard is made up stories. And let's suppose it's true of course it's wrong, yet you shouldn't disregard the fact that their only reason to do that is in their eyes to make sure not to be responsible for that kind of disobedience to the orders of their creator..

Oh, the answer is simple. No priest or any other Christian will hurt a nun if she doesn't wear her habit. A Muslim woman can be stoned, hit, have acid thrown on her if she doesn't wear a hijab.

EDIT: Don't blame me, blame allah. He's the one that allows Muslim women to be abused. God doesn't though. Someday you will realize there is a difference.

EDIT #2: Are you going to deny what I said is true? Then you are very confused. Oh and resorting to name calling since you cannot honestly deny my answer just shows how weak your argument really is. Please produce one case, just one, where a nun has been hurt by a Christian because she did not have her habit on. I bet I can find hundreds of cases where Muslim women have been. Why is that? I have also seen videos of Muslim men in mosques saying to hit your little girls if they don't wear hijab. Let's see how many women in Saudi Arabia can walk around wearing anything they want. I will check back later. Oh, your Christian friends have obviously never read the quran to see that allah CANNOT be God.

#3 - No example in 2 hours? Need more time? No problem.

God Bless.

Both seem oppressive to me. Not all Christians are catholics ya know. And there are plenty of non-promiscuous clothes options besides hijabs/nun outfits.

I would agree if it was willingly chosen by Muslim women. In my experience, the majority are forced. Have you taken a look at Iran? Or watched the women frantically covering up before the plane lands?

The point about coercion is a valid one, I think. If the Muslim women do it out of fear, it's not the same thing at all.

They just don't like the hijab because they can't "express" themselves if they wear them.
They think it's not cool (like they're cool enough, duh).

May Allah S.W.T guide us all.
