Ok so today our social studies teacher was all like 'Some people believe that jesus did not walk the earth because there is no SCIENTIFIC PROOF'. and then he would say something like "the bible may be holy, but it might not be scientififc, for example, who is there to say that Adam and Eve were the first 2 people on earth? we werent there were we? so how do people know?" so what i am asking you, is 'what is your point of view of this?' what do you believe in more,...Science or Faith/Bible? and if you have a website link or something [not wikepedia] that has ACTUALLY scientific proof that jesus walked the earth, PLEASE give it to me because I would want to show that to my teacher.
Please, Thank You, and May God Bless ^_^

Whichever "side" your Social Studies teacher is "on" he's a grade A prat.
Most scientists realise that science is not everything. Its not even everything to do with knowledge. On this specific issue, whether Jesus existed, the question is a historical not scientific one. Historical issues cannot be scientific issues as they are not repeatable.
If you want to DESTROY your Social Studies teacher read the link below. Its a fairly short article by Steve Gould outlining what science can do and what religion can do (he agrees with the Pope, but the Pope's book is a lot longer).
If you want to destroy him, humiliate him and dance on his grave read chapter 27 of K. R. Popper's "The Poverty of Historicism".
Don't worry, both these are short, sweet and very well written.
Feel free to post more questions on them and we'll give you the ammo (this is going to be fun!).
BTW Steve Gould was one of the pre-eminent biologists of the past few decades, Karl Popper was THE philosopher of Science of the last century.

I'm not a believer in Jesus...at least not in the sense that he was the messiah.
However, your teacher is coming across about as ignorant as those creationists.
Fact is, we don't have all the facts on everything.
AS we learn, study and dig (both figuratively, as in Scripture and literally, as in archeology) we find out that there are many truths out there buried, awaiting discovery.
God (not Jesus, okay?) only allows us a tiny portion of the big picture.
I'm quite certain that God has a great sense of humor...watching us argue and fight over who is wrong and who is right.
Take astronomy and astrology - both are ways of viewing the celestial heavens.
Maybe there is a connection to the way planets align and to the way we are when where born.
Your science teacher didn't create the stars or this Earth.
And those creationists are foolish to think that the Earth is only a few thousand years old.
Somewhere out there, is the truth.
AS our rabbi's tell us "turn it, turn and turn it again" - Torah (i.e., "Old Testament") is a lesson book of human behavior...and a record of where we've been.
We need to keep reading it, re-reading it and again...so we can begin to understand that religion and science CAN be connected.
There is an explanation for everything, if we keep an open mind.

In the Bible there are letters from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, James, Peter, who were witnesses to Jesus the Christ walking the earth. Six eye witnesses go a long way in a court of law. I believe any court in America would say that Jesus walked the earth just based upon six eye witnesses' written testimony.
Ask your teacher to study AD and BC where time split because of Jesus Christ.
I have more faith in the Lord and His Word, the Holy Bible than I do in science.

I believe in BOTH creationism and evolution.
In the Bible, the arth and the skies and the stars are all claimed to be created in 7 days... but a day in the Bible is not like the human day. I can't get out the specific quote now, but it says that elsewhere in the Bible.
There are also the dead sea scrolls which is written by witnesses of Jesus, I think. I haven't done too much research on that but I have heard about it.
There are also claims in the Bible that there were other people around duing Adam and Eve's time. (Sorry, I don't have my Bible with me right now so I don't have quotes...)

The bible is not a scientific book, it is a spiritual one. It does not, and has never, attempted to be a book of scientific facts. Rather it that teaches profound spiritual truths. Obviously there are things in the bible that happened, but others, like the story of adam and eve, clearly have a purpose other than to teach "this is exactly the way it happened."

The Bible is very figurative. Meaning I think there can be both science and religion. I believe the two to both co-exist, though they have been at odds with one another for centuries. Evolution is real, but if you don't interpret the Bible word for word but rather on a metaphoric level I think it can make sense. That teacher has no business using the classroom to express his oppinions and personal views.

Faith basically boils down to believing something for no reason other than that's what you believe, and is a pretty stupid way of looking at things. Science wins every time.
As for Jesus walking the earth, it's not a ridiculous hypothesis. Roman and Greek historians agree he existed, and there were Christians soon after his supposed death. And most people do walk the earth. Was he the Son of God? highly unlikely.

I like to look at results to help me formulate my belief system.
Science has a pretty good track record of providing mankind with beneficial things. We owe modern medicine, transportation, food production, housing, charity and basic things like plumbing, heating, storage and beds to science.
Religion on the otherhand, doesn't have such a stellar track record. History has shown time and time again that religion creates family breakups, church divide and argument, and even mass wars.
I believe the world would be a better place, if the people that spend their time trying to fight for their religious belief would spend more time learning from science.

Hand your teacher a Bible.
The laws of science and nature are man made laws and God defies those laws.
If Jesus never existed then we wouldn't hear anything about him at all , just the opposite is the case. Anyone who thinks he never even existed is a intellectual moron.
