Another good time is early winter frosty mornings lying in bed and hearing my neighbours struggling to get off to work.

I have the freedom to work when I want to.

I love all those lovely discounts everybody talks about.

I don't have to account to a bunch of people anymore for things that are annoying.

If I forget something, it's just because of my age.

I don't have to put up with a lot of smart aleck remarks from the younger generation. I've lived long enough that I can give them right back and add a line or two that makes them stop and think.

I can still walk and talk will a modicum of self-respect and I'm thankful for each and every day I'm alive, but I'm ready to go when the time comes.

And one last thing, I can still give love and receive it. And, of course, my very favorite way to do it is to bake anything good and promptly give it to someone, just to brighten their day.

These are truly positives.

A bus pass
A freedom of speech not usually available to a younger person who is working
No rush hour travel
Time to carry out hobbies
Time to do voluntary work of a type you could not do when younger
Time for younger members of the family
Time for neighbours and those around you
Time for the Misses
That lot is just for starters but some of it needs reasonable health

I wouldn't be young again for all the tea in China !
All that worrying about what people thought of me, when I now know that they were all worrying about what others thought of them.
No more worrying about how my kids were going to turn out - they turned out just fine.
Being able to continue working, but to speak my mind about our working conditions because I no longer care what the boss thinks about me. Consequently I'm now the union rep for my workplace !
Getting big tax breaks for being a "mature age worker".
Doing exactly as I like, and having the time and the freedom to do it.

Older people are more comfortable in themselves can say what you like and get away with it, push in in queues, travel free on the buses, not worry about latest trends and fashion, enjoy Radio 4, generally know what they're talking about because they have lived it. My mother does all the above plus more (including being chatted up by a man in the bank) and loves being the age she is, she would rather be old than a teenager.

I agree. I enjoy having the freedom to move about (or not) as I see fit. We are free for the first time to see theater productions and to eat out (we had worked nights for decades), and we are enjoying those opportunities.

There is less stress, the clothing budget suddenly stretches to eternity, and you can eat when you're hungry and not have to wolf the food down to get back to work in a jiffy. (Healthy Choice is very good when you're working, but I haven't missed the frozen meals. I've traded them for home-cooked meals!)

A free bus pass. When I get old I am going to get my revenge on my daughter for being a punk in her youth and wear a purple hat, red coat, green tights, yellow shoes and have pink hair. That will teach her for all the embarassment I had. Tee hee if she reads this.
