Another reason is because of all of the anti-PS3 fanboys!

I like Nintendo 100 times more than the PS3 and XBox360; because I'm a Nintendo fan! ;)

To begin with, the launch price was a big deal to many people. 600 bucks for a system is a lot of money for many people. At the time, it was either 300/400 for the 360 or 500/600 for the PS3. Most people chose the 360 over the PS3 because it was cheaper, and the 360 had some good games already out.

The PS3 was supposed to have better graphics than the 360, but when games that were released for both the 360 and PS3 around launch time, the 360 games ended up looking better. But people forgot that developers have had more time (an extra year) to work on 360 games while the PS3 version of those games were rushed out in order to cash in on the PS3 name.

There's also the Ebay disaster. People were bidding on average about 2600 bucks for the 60 gb model just to have it during the holiday seasons or to give it away as presents. Then after Chrismas, the PS3 was easy to find in stores. My local Best Buy had about 20 60 gb PS3 on the floor after Christmas.

Sony was too cheap to secure series that were synonymous with the PS3. GTA IV should have been a PS3 exclusive or at least a time limited exclusive, but Sony didn't want to shell out the money. Assassin's Creed was also rumored to be a PS3 exclusive if only Sony had shown Jade Raymond the money. The only smart decision that Sony made was to get the exclusive rights to Metal Gear Solid 4 and hopefully Final Fantasy XIII. If MGS 4 went to the 360, that would most likely be the end of the PS3 reign.

At launch, there weren't enough PS3 for the high demand, so a lot of people were angry that they didn't have a chance to get a PS3. I think it was rumored that only 400,000 PS3 were shipped on launch. That's not good. And let's not forget that some store managers were acting like idiots, turning the high demand into a game. One store had the customers play musical chair just for the chance to get a PS3. Another store had everyone stand behind a line and then it was a mad rush to the store door. So people who waited in line for weeks were angry. It should have been first come first serve.

Most of the launch games were terrible. Mobile Suit Gundam, what a stinker.

Then after the launch, for the next 7 to 8 months, not a lot of PS3 games were released. Virtua Fighter 5 was the next big game to come out for the PS3 after Resistance, and that game didn't come out until spring. Then it took about another month before Motor Storm was released.

I dont hate it, I will probably get one when they reduce the price, at the moment however there are not enough games out to give me the incentive to buy one. I think this is down to games developers seeing how well it does before committing time and money on a console that is not selling as well as everyone anticipated. When Grand Theft Auto 4 and Resident Evil 5 are released there will be a lot of people wanting to purchase a PS3, me included. Until then, I think most people who say they dont like the PS3, say it because they cant afford it. You dont hear people who own one slagging it off!

Considering the ps3 is only $20 more than the 360 Elite the price isn't the issue. THe issue is many people ran out and bought the 360 in 2005 because it was the lastest and greatest, Many of their friends didn't and wanted to wait for the ps3...THey spent the year cutting down their friends and pushing them to buy the 360 instead... When their friends refused it was like they rejected the friendship and not just the 360...

Well in 2006 when many of the 360 owners friends still had a hard time buying the PS3 and even when the 360 price dropped, the 360 owners friends still didn't cave.

THey waited until after the holiday and then got one....The 360 owners who spent a years bragging and boasting about the 360 sat in a depression.

THey couldn't admit that the die hard Sony fans definitely got something so awesome that it was worth the wait.... So in stead of appreciating the awesomeness of all the gaming systems the 360 owners began slamming the ps3 for what reason, because having "the best for bragging purposes " is more important to them then having what you enjoy the most.

First off people get your prices right, the elite cost $450 while the cheapest ps3 is $500, which is a $50 difference, second I own both consoles and honestly they both have things the other doesn't. My ps3 has built in wi-fi with blu-ray, I don't buy blu-ray but hey its a plus. But my ps3 came with no hd cables and no headset for on line.

My elite comes with no wi-fi and no hd-dvd but again I don't care for either next gen format. How ever my 360 did come with an hdmi cable, headset, component, composite and a 120 gig hard drive.

Also Sony has no intentions of making more 60 gig ps3's and has already stated that currently the last shipment of $500 60 gigs are all in stores, so after they sell out expect the only ps3 to be the $600 80 gig version.

Another note is that new xbox 360 premium now come with an hdmi port and only cost $350 meaning the low end ps3 cost $150 while the high end model cost a whooping $250 more.

It's the ps3's price that is hurting its sales that and a weak library. Another thing is that people that have a hatred for the ps3 are fan boys and that's there opinion, every one is in titled to there own opinion but shouldn't give an opinion un-less they own both consoles.

Simple psychology. Xbox 360 owners deep in their souls know, that Microspot fooled 'em with their worthless "red ring of doom" gadget. That's why. So know they hate PS3. I'm not talking about Wii - it's a weakest console on the market (from last-gen ones).

I agree with a few of the other answerers, but here are the reasons why I think people hate the PS3.

1. They can't afford it.
2. Deep down, Xbox 360 owners know that the PS3 is better they just don't wan't to admit it.

the short answer is that it is simply the console with the least popularity right now and the media find it more entertaining to rip on a console than highlight its greatest features. No matter how amazing the lineup is for every console, people will always find something to rip on, it's nothing we can control, although many people have tried to.

R n D has a point. it is common sense that the ps3 is better than the xbox 360. think about it:
xbox 360:released in 2005
ps3:released in 2006.

so to all xbox 360 fanboys, you are wrong and you can now admit the ps3 is better than your crapbox 360.
