Is it a myth or reality?
Do you really believe that an American or English employer would employ an immigrant over a fellow coutrymen?
Come on, get real. All statistics prove that with equal qualifications, no employers would employ an immigrant over a national citizen.
The fact is that immigrants are only employed if they are extremely well qualified or if national citizens don't want to do the job. Unemployment is down to underachievement or laziness.
How do you explain the fact that immigrants can find jobs in less than a month of their arrival and that normal citizens are suffering unemployment? Jobs are available out there for anybody who wants one!
A little fact for the sceptic: unemployment has gone down in the Uk, even after it opened its borders to eastern european countries who
"flooded" the country.
What do you think?

National citizen wants to work as a cashier for $20 an hour. People need to get real, if you want a good salary then study, create your own business or get skills.
Moreover, from what most people are saying here I can conclude that between low paid job or hands-out, immigrants prefer low paid jobs, countrymen prefer hand outs... That says it all.

Before you all begin passing judgment, don't forget that your ancestors were immigrants unless you're "Indian." So stop moaning and groaning about "illegal" immigrants. If America were in serious economic, political, etc. problems, you would want to go to any country that can take you in. But, I guess, when you're not faced with it, you cannot understand. Once again, everyone needs to grow up. Most of you sound pathetic and your reasoning is appalling.
If you don't have a job, is because you do not want one bad enough. Anyone can get a job; people need to be realistic. Sometimes people get a "lower" job until they find something better. That has nothing to do with immigrants.
And being an "immigrant," I can proudly say that I am far more educated than some of you who post some ignorant remarks. Being an immigrant does not make me inferior to any of you. As a matter of fact, my family has been university educated for at least 7 generations. But I guess, some peoples' sheer ignorance can get the better of them.

The Type of Immigrants entering and staying in Britain are Not the types of People any country would readily choose to accept for permanent settlement .They get in here because Our Government cannot control the influx. They are unfortunately people who need Safety/and a welfare state that would oversee their needs. Who in their right minds would not want to land up in the UK. Desperate to get established these people would readily work for low wages and no employment protection. British shady employers know that and they exploit them. These very same people will one day in the future blame Britain for turning a blind eye to permitting this to go on .Our politicians are more interested in serving their Party group rather than People .Labour today is Not for the worker. The Conservatives are anti-Unions and the Lib-De ms do not have the clout .There are no credible alternatives at present. We already are ruled by Fear of taking rightful action against an army of fifth Columnists.I really feel Britain has lost its way .It is not just the Natives who are saying this. Even the Newcomers have sensed our weaknesses and mock British Values in private.

Well in my area, (the south east) all the jobs we did as 17-18 year olds are now being done by polish and the people in their late teens are having trouble finding work during off periods of education.
-the money is not being recycled in our economy
-some poles are claiming child benefit for children in Poland
-Why do they all bring their own cars over (no tax, mot etc)
And please stop addressing the immigration from a simple economic stand point -
East anglia has had it by all accounts, there are large polish ghettos forming. It is simply to much. the country is already overcrowded as all the talk about building more houses.
I agree with the poster about our own lazy buggers. We need to get the lazy scumbags off their arses and into work - but that is the fault of the welfare state that gives them no reason to go and find work. Im sure there is some dangerous liberal we can blame for that.
And a final note to think about. Whats that thing about positive discrimination in regards to employment?

Studying and getting skills does not automatically lead to a good salary - tell that to all the graduates in the UK working in callcentres as there aren't enough graduate jobs for them!
As for "there are jobs out there for anyone who wants one" and "immigrants can find them", yes you're right - there is plenty of casual work or 20 hours a week at £5.35 per hour. That is not going to help a man who has a mortgage to pay and a family to support now is it?!
But the availability of all these immigrants means that employers are now paying minimum wage for a job that should be worth £10 an hour. They know that labour is plentiful and easy to find because of the flood of immigration so why pay more? So men are trying to support their families on £5.35 an hour. My other half works 70 hours a week at minimum wage!
How dare you suggest that British people are "lazy"? You are a stupid bigot!

what you say completely overlooks the black economy the dodgy employment agencies and work gangs.
You can interpret statistics in so many ways and manipulate them accordingly.
I agree with you there are jobs out there, if you will take any job to start, i could go out tomorrow and find work but would it be a quality job that would feed my family , pay the rent, no it would be a low paid, part time or casual.
and its supply and demand the employers will only pay what they can get away with never mind the minimum wage. if an immigrant will do the job cheaper the employer will take them, loyalty, employment law, over profit i think not.
So another side to your argument should be are immigrants who will accept less pay driving down the value of jobs that are available, myth or reality?

The ugly truth is that some Americans care more about the dollar than fellow countrymen. There is a company, 2 miles down the road from me, that gets fined at least once a year for hiring illegal aliens. Over and over it happens... and yet somehow, they are still in business and they keep doing it.
Its not for a lack of citizen labor, either. We have many unemployed people around here, actively looking for work. Its just that the company prefers paying under the table, without benefits or insurance for the employees.

Immigrants will work for far less money than a citizen of the country would expect, they will also work without the benefits.
The farmers in this country will employ an immigrant over a UK citizen for those purposes, most of them freely admit to it. Bernard Matthews employs mostly Polish immigrants because they are cheap labour.
You really ought to do more homework on this before antagonising people.

Easy now, remember there are many versions of the truth. While yours is one supported by many political type's, it is not viewed to be complete by many who study the issue.
Your point about the UK is mute. We are a totally different country with a different economy.
The illegals find jobs so easily because most are paid lower wages and are exploited. They can't complain for fear of being deported.
God bless America! We will prevail.

Not exactly true. If an immigrant is willing to work for $5.00 an hour and a "countryman" wants $15.00 then who do you think will get the job?
Farm workers in California get paid like 20.00 a day! If they are illegal it is even less. Many people will work these jobs if paid a live able wage.

they do when british workers strike, look at royal mail at the moment our town is full of immigrant agency workers all because of a back log of post
http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/display.var.1633369.0.anger_over_massive_mail_backlog.php
an example of comments from link
"Yesterday there were four, yes four, temporary post deliverers on my road. None spoke English, they were looking at the road signs and their post, totally confused. The Royal Mail management is trusting our mail, containing as reported here, bank cards, important documents to temporary untrained staff. What security checks have been carried out on these temporary staff ?
The RM Regional Director needs to be on the front page of the WO telling us how he is going to fix this appalling situation, his mismanagement has bought about. Let's have some management accountability."
