And there is not just the BoM, there is the Doctrines and Covenants, and the Great Pearl of Wisdom...

ironic, the ones that say "but the two are contradictory", but show them topic after topic, issue after issue, and then the response is...(as so well put in one of the above answers)

"We believe the Bible to be the word of God AS FAR AS IT IS TRANSLATED CORRECTLY. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God."

Ok...so..when I show them the contradictions, the fall back is "as long as its translated correctly", which is buzz phrase for "the contradictions you are showing me are not translated correctly"....ok....and when I hear this, I ask "and your PhD in ancient languages comes from? I mean, you are saying with authority that this is incorrectly translated" (never mind the Greek-English Interlinear translations....where I can show them the original greek...but do any of them ever take just the greek and ask a third party to translate it? Nope...would only bolster my case, and weaken theirs I suppose).

too many contradictions between Bible and mormon teachings...

Here's two :
1- Jesus is created being, brother of lucifer
2- true believers will get to become their own little god, with their own little planet of worshippers

Now...mormon faithful....show us in Bible where this is to be found

Not entirely. While we do believe the Book of Mormon to be the most correct book on earth, we certainly don't hold it higher than the Bible. There are things in the Bible that aren't in the Book of Mormon, such as first hand accounts of Christ's life, death, and ressurection. And it also details the Law of Moses much better then the Book of Mormon. Think of it this way. The Old Testiment is about fallen men. This how they became that way. This how they act. This is what they do. This is what they worship. The New Testiment shows the true face of deity. This who God really is. And the Book of Mormon is how we can become like Christ.

True! We believe that the Bible was changed by man.

Oregon Flower, that isn't right. John Taylor said,"Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it. In the short space of twenty years, he has brought forth the Book of Mormon, which he translated by the gift and power of God, and has been the means of publishing it on two continents; has sent the fullness of the everlasting gospel, which it contained, to the four quarters of the earth; has brought forth the revelations and commandments which compose this book of Doctrine and Covenants, and many other wise documents and instructions for the benefit of the children of men; gathered many thousands of the Latter-day Saints, founded a great city, and left a fame and name that cannot be slain. He lived great, and he died great in the eyes of God and his people; and like most of the Lord’s anointed in ancient times, has sealed his mission and his works with his own blood; and so has his brother Hyrum" (Doctrine and Covenants 135:3).

Some of the Mormon book is contradictory to the Christian foundation and the Deity of Jesus. That Salvation is available through faith In Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God & His shed blood for remission of our sins.

And there are contradictions within the Mormon book itself. So? They believe the Mormon book is better written & the the bible is mistranlated. In the front of the Mormon book it writes it is the best book written.

Buddy's right. They preach a different gospel & have a different Jesus Christ than the Jesus Christ of the bilblical Gospels. You can discern this if you read the Mormon answers.

It would be more correct to say that we believe in all true records and revelations given by God to any of His prophets and servants, and true prophets and servants are known by whether or not they testify if Jesus was the Son of God. If they do not testify of Jesus Christ, they would not be considered true prophets but merely men with a combination of philosophies and inspiration on a less informed level. So why not read for yourself and decide if God has more prophets than just those who happened to be included in the Bible.

Actually, I'm kind the opposite...I believe them both, but when I prepare talks, I'm more likely to reference the bible than the book of mormon. Maybe because I'm more familiar twith the bible, since I've read it through twice, but I've only skimmed the whole book of mormon once. Perhpas the person you were talking to was just more familiar with the book of mormon, or maybe you understood them differently than they intended. Idk, I dont think that we really believe one "more" than the other, its just a thing. But I also personaly believe that if you completely put your faith in a book with no thought of your own, you're asking for some serious heartache in the long run.

Along with the Bible, which is also held by Latter Day Saints to be the Word of God as far as it is translated correctly,[4] the Book of Mormon is esteemed as part of the canon by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Community of Christ and other churches that claim Joseph Smith as their founder. In 1982, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints added the subtitle Another Testament of Jesus Christ to its editions of the book to help clarify and emphasize its purpose. Prior to 1982, some editions of the Book of Mormon had included the subtitle, A Second Testament of Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book on earth and that a man ( a person ) may get closer to God by reading it than by any other book. We believe that there are errors in the Bible - I personally believe them to be because of mistranslations, transcription errors, and unfortunately in some cases blatant deletions by those charged with translating and/or transcribing the holy writ. Those errors have caused some vital truths to become lost or missing from the Bible. We believe that because the Book of Mormon did not go through all the transcribing and translations that the Bible did, that there are much fewer errors in it, and that it restores the missing and vital doctrines not found in the Bible. We believe that the two books go hand in hand.

I was engaged to a mormon and the way she told me is that the book of mormon was the complete story, while the Bible was missing some key information. I personally believe the Bible is the Word of God and does not need to be corrected. So there.

I have no idea but I have the Bible and that is all I need. Read Revelation 22:18-19 and find out what will happen to these people and all others like them.
