Set up a HELOC for next time so you can get a loan just writing a check.
Consider other options like financing from where you are buying something, or having a yard sale to raise some money.

Try www.prosper.com it is a site where individuals make loans to one another. It may take a few tries to get interest going for your self but it is a nice alternative to going to a bank.
