Specifically, I have some friends who have an adult daughter that has some mental health issues and is operating on a "child" level. She has a propensity for wandering off in public places or leaving the house for walks without telling anyone where she is going. It would be nice if the parents could give her something that she would have on her that would be hooked into GPS and allow them to locate her.
Given all that, the characteristics of the device would have to be:
a) Always on (since you cant really expect her to turn it on when she goes for her walks) with adequate battery life to allow this.
b) Something she would WANT to have on her at all times (like a cool watch, bracelet, etc.)

I've done a few web searches but nothing seems to fit.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

The issue is a matter of budget. I am out on a mountain weekly, so would need to pay for satellite services every month of the year, hundreds of dollars annually. Therefore, I rely on cell phone coverage, emergency signal, day pack essentials, absence from work, location of my parked car, and passing hikers for rescue if it is ever necessary. In most settings, I will be found within a few days ~ alive or dead. In most severe injury scenarios in the remote areas where I go, I will be dead before Search and Rescue can reach me, anyway. During an average year, ten people die in locations where I go.

My father who has dementia and wonders off has a bracelet. When people find him, it has the phone number which activates medical officials. It is not "on" all the time. My mother wears a necklace that she can activate when necessary. They got these things through Medicare and Medicaid. Your friend's daughter probably qualifies for these government programs.
