It's leftover from the original biological urges nature gave us to propagate the human species to maximum potential. A man who inseminates more females has a much better chance of passing on his genes to viable offspring than a man who only has sex with one woman. Also, it's been speculated that the earliest man usually had sex with at least two women on a "rotating" schedule, because it was very difficult in those times to have sex with a pregnant female...no specially shaped beds, no medicines to reduce the pain or help the moods, etc. So one woman would be "available" in that sense while the other one grew the offspring.
Nowadays, that urge has been carried further in the form of pornographic media.

Funny thing happened to my neighbor......He wanted to have a threesome so his wife brought another women over to add some spice to the marriage and she ended up liking the other woman so much they got divorced and she has been with the other woman for quite some time now. I think it is better left as a fantasy, just stick to watching it on the movies and bring toys into your sex life to spice things up.

Men want FMF threesomes because it makes them feel like a king to have two women.
Few men are willing to afford their girlfriend/wife the same experience though with two men because their afraid another man will be 'bigger' or 'better' than them and that their girlfriend/wife is so shallow that she loves him only for his equipment and she'll leave at the first sign of a bigger one.
