I have been a bridesmaid 4 times, and a flower girl once when I was younger...and now i'm planning my own wedding for next summer! They can be fun and also some tend to get kinda stressful in the planning stages, but it usually ends up being worth it in the end.
Have fun and good luck!

Yes, of course you should take them into consideration before you decide on the bridesmaid and maid of honor dresses. You can't exactly go around asking them how much they make, but you should think about thier lifestyles, and plan your dresses accordingly. Of course it should be in line with the size and style of the wedding, but it really isn't fair to ask them to share your day, and then leave them broke for the rest of the year, or make one of them feel they need to bow out if they can't afford the dresses you select for them. As for accomodating one or two with expensive taste, the final decision is yours what they should wear, not thiers, and if that one or two is too shallow to consider the others, maybe you need to pick someone else, it's not thier wedding, it's yours. Just don't make them wear something with all kinds of horrible big bows and junk, pick something nice that they could conceivably wear to an office christmas party sometime......... It doesn't have to be a designer dress, it just has to be pretty, no more than 200, and especially if they have to travel a long distance to be with you. If it's a spring or summer wedding, prom season might be a good time to go shopping, as prom formals are more reasonably aquired in a department store than something comparable to be found in an expensive bridal shop. As someone else mentioned, David's bridal is well known for being a good discount shop...

I haven't been in many weddings but I will wish for your friends and all of the couples getting married this year and soon the time and length of happiness that my parents and family have shared. My parents have been married for 63 years and several brother and sisters have been married for over 25 years. I'm not currently with my partner because of an unavoidable problem that affected both of our families. I really wish that every one has the strength to but up with the day to day things that drive you crazy about your partner and still hang in their. My parents have buried 4 children and seen a lot of us go through our own issues. I spent most of my life from age of birth through 12 in an out of hospitals and there have been a few of us that have deal with mental illnesses and there were nine of us. That was just the children there were also three adults living in a house which at the time had one bathroom and five bed rooms. IF they could stay together through a lot of that than I don't want anyone to say that they can't do the same things if they wanted to bad enough.

Rena, I won't say how old I am, but up there in years, and I have never, ever been in a wedding. My sister got married twenty years ago and being married, she thought it was more appropriate to have single women in her wedding party; I was heartbroken. Maybe in my next life I will be in one! Enjoy every minute you celebrate with your good friend; I'll bet you will look gorgeous! xxxxxxooo
