OK, I'm saying this from the point of a female in the business, although I don't agree with.
Men rule the industry for the most part for chefs. I can name way more male chefs than females. And I don't mean food network chefs. Now, as my husband said, who cooked for those male chefs? Mothers, grandmothers and aunts. So females seem to rule in the home as "just cooks". Women just haven't been breaking through that glass ceiling of the "man's world" yet.
However, when those male chefs come home to their wives...it's the wife's cooking! Hello, world!

Gender is not a factor at all. Depends on each person's ability. Seems like more men chefs at restaurants and more women chefs at homes though.

Both are very good!But I think there is more men chefs than women!

I'd say women just because in most cases we do a majority of the cooking. I have, however, met some men who really know their way around the kitchen.

I would have to say that it could be either it just depends on how much cooking experience a man or woman has had while they were growing up! I can cook like nobody's business,but my husband wouldn't know how to boil water.

I don't know what country YOU live in, but here in the USA people don't pay dowries. At least, it's not a legal obligation. I certainly don't plan on giving or receiving a dowry when I get married. IF I get married.

the top ones are men, but in general women out number men in cooking skills

Overall, women, but the best chefs in the world are men because they can carry heavy pots of food.

lol i think men are better in the restaurant industry and i agree that women are better with the whole home cooking thing. and proud of it =)
but i do think men know their flavours thats for sure

In my house its my husband, So i would say the men! But that doesnt mean their arnt good woman cooks!!! Its an art and anyone can be good at it!
