During the Olympics in Atlanta (1996) he was walking around looking homeless and tore up, plus he had lost a lot of weight. This running shoe store felt sorry for him and gave him a new pair of shoes and a little cash in exchange to sit in their store for awhile to sign autographs. True story, believe it or not. He was my favorite as a kid. So where's he at? And is he healthy and living good?

You're right 'bout his economic status at the moment. The guy's having a hard time trying to make ends meet. Aside from his old gym in Philly, where he trains upcoming young fighters, he has no other means of income. Despite being one of the greatest heavyweights in history, endorsements are hard to come by for him because of his still existing hatred and nastiness towards Muhammad Ali, which is obviously very bad for his image. As far as his health is concerned, he's been suffering from diabetes for a long time now and has been in and out of the hospital. Larry Holmes once shouldered his hospital bills. He's also slurring in his speech so it's kinda sad that he's still making fun of Ali's condition.

I saw Joe recently during a television interview and he was doing well and not homeless. He still performs with his band The Knockouts.
