Because people themselves are all different, and perceive things differently.
For example, 5 people looking at a Jackson Pollock painting will have 5 different opinions about what it is and how good/bad it is.
The same with God. God is infinite and that means the our finite minds can never have a true, accurate picture of him. No matter what we envision, God will always be bigger, better, more wonderful and loving.
But we as individuals and as groups can have "pieces" of the true picture of God. We all have these different pictures of God, and if we stopped arguing about who is wrong and who is right, and put our individual pieces of the picture together, not only would we have peace, but we would also have a bigger, truer picture of God.

Your question is based on a falsehood. Everybody does not have a different religion, there are many people who share the same religious beliefs, with most being divided into a few major and several minor religions. Why different religions exist (which I assume is what you are really trying to ask) is likely because everyone is attempting to make sense of life and the idea of someone/something more powerful than they are appeals to them because then they do not have to take full responsibility for their own actions, and they join together with others who share the same viewpoints.

I believe that there are many different religions because ultimately many people seek to know God and they do so by selecting a system of religion to follow. As a result, people often times choose a religion based on who they are as individuals, what they like and dislike, and the culture and society in which they were raised.
This is why here in the United States you see so many forms of religion. We have so many different types of people from all walks of life trying to connect to who or what they think that God is or what God represents.

Cultures from every continet has had thier own religion. It is a belief system aimed at trying to get you to the same place. Peace love acceptance and happiness. I prefer spirituality. I pray and meditate daily. I have seen the God of my understanding work miracles in my life. Unselfish prayer. I feel that a lot of religions or churches have forgotten over time thier main purpose and sometimes how to get there.

I think that religion is just the way in which we are able to develop a relationship with God. Different structures, ideas, rituals, etc, work for different people. In the end I doubt that it matters which religion we followed. The most important thing is that we find a place that helps us become close to Him, no matter where that may be.

Catholicism is still the single largest religion, with over 1 Billion followers. I am a member of that faith.
When Martin Luther began his quest, starting the protestant revolt (aka reformation), that began a thinking that anyone could break away, for any purpose, if they think differently than the establishment.
Some churches have split because they believe you should make the sign of the cross with 2 fingers instead of 3 (I'm not kidding). There are well over 10,000 denomination of Christianity in the US alone.
If you take God as something that has to make sense to you, and you can make your own path to Him, then you can make your own religion.
If, however, you take God as someone who has shown you the single path to Him, then you are Catholic.

Ya know..I dont know. We all believe in the same God ..if by another name..he is the same. We are all one family on this earth...we the human race..not the black race or the yellow race or the white race...the HUMAN race. And God didnt create religion..man did...I think to hold power over others. And so much death and suffering has gone on in the name of religion. I think they all should be banished.

Because Jehovah-1, the Space God only chose my SubGenii brethren to be saved on some July 5th, 7 AM, while the rest of you burn in a slackless Hell. Enjoy death, while we escape this world on the Pleasure Ships of the Sex Goddesses.

because all religions are just an expression of cultures rules, myths, hopes and fears. Each person adds to that. Now there is such a jungle of religions, it is a wonder that they haven't all spotted the obvious... they are all just mythology.
