No its part of the history of this great country. If a minority wants it removed tough more want it left alone. I grew up in school learning that majority beats minority but in this world of political correctness that seems to have vanished. Peace out...........

They just shouldn't have been inserted in the first place. BOTH the motto and the "under God" line were ADDED in the mid-20th century, mostly due to the whole "Red Scare" at the time.

The difficulty though, is in getting them off. They're not an easy thing to remove without making it look like you're some religion-hating communist. It's like trying to remove sombody's new baby photos or a funeral/sympathy card from the office memo board. "Can we take this down? It's been up for 3 years." "No, you're a cold-hearted bastard!"

I see people here falling back on "majority rules". That's not how a republic solely works. And the Declaration of Independence is NOT an official U.S. document! It was created before the US was formed, folks.

Phrases or statements about god are an attempt to establish religion and has no place on our public lands, buildings, money, or being used or espoused by our government leaders.

okay, but then we should delete "novus ordo selectorium", latin for "a new secular order" which cancels out "in God we trust"

Well, from what I understand, the rabid atheists are trying very hard to delete the word "God" from anything that doesn't involve profanity, so it shouldn't be long. That word intimidates them for some reason.

No. You'd have to remove "The Supreme Judge of the World," "Nature's God" and all the other religious language from the Declaration of Independence too. You've heard of the Declaration of Independence, right; the founding document of the US, the one that spells out just what the US was founded on.

Edit: Remember the First Amendment says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof .."

So the first test of Constitutionality is whether or not we are talking about a LAW made by CONGRESS. If so than the rest of the amendment can be debated. If not, then it has nothing to do with the Constitution and is not unconstitutional.

Yes.

Since it's currency, shouldn't it say "In Mammon We Trust"?
