Fasting is common in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We fast for twentyfour hours, eating nothing and drinking nothing, not even water. We do this once a month. The sick and the very young are excused from fasting, as are the pregnant.

It really doesn't take that much willpower. Just decide that you aren't going to eat. When it comes time when you regularly eat you may feel hungry. Perhaps even a little faint. That will pass. You can do it. It will be good for you, unless you are in poor health. Use judgement in that regard.

I suggest that you get a new therapist. I practiced and taught Kundalini yoga for very many years. It's great but I don't think a therapist should be using it as part of meditation and instructing pts to fast. If you haven't fasted before, you will probably feel weak and dazed and then presumably be doing intense psychological work--although I don't really know what you're therapist has in mind (everyone has their own pop-culture idea about what Kundalini meditation is). It is unhealthy to dabble with Kundalini energetics if you need therapy for something or other. You need to be relatively psychologically healthy or else you can have more problems than you bargained for.

When you fast, you need to drink a lot of water and clear fluids (like soup broth).
