You can't file them on-line now. You had to file 2005 taxes on-line by last October. You can still file 2006 on-line, but not 2005. And if you owe monies there will be interest and penalties owed in addition to the tax. If you are owed a refund, there will be no interest or penalties owed for not having filed until now.

You can't file 2005 taxes online. You can download the forms and instructions at irs.gov though, fill them out and mail them in for free except for the cost of the stamp.

If you have a refund coming, you'll still get it and there won't be a penalty for filing late. If you owe, you'll also pay interest and penalties.

Look into HR block. I have filed my taxes online with them for free some years and low cost others depending on what I made and other factors that effected the difficulty of filing my taxes for that year.
