I didn't have to go because I told them the truth. Jury duty is a waste of the court's time because I will not pass judgment on anyone. That gets me out every time.

Yeah, a couple of years ago is when I got my first forcible invite. I would have preferred to work that day, but I took my lumps and was interested at any rate. The initial jury selection only took only a few hours. I guess the accused saw the err of his ways to just close the book on himself and wrap it all up without costing more tax payer's dollars as we didn't have to come back.
Sure... nobody likes to go, but it's interesting and you should fulfill your calling to either condemn or protect your fellow citizen. Everyone has a right to a fair trial, especially if they are trying to save their innocence. Heck, I'd go down in flames if I were to be blamed for some crime because I rarely have a solid alibi due to living alone and no substantial proof to back up my innocence. I suppose if the jury didn't buy my true tale of innocence, I'd go down either way. lol

I was on a Court Martial board. An instructor at a local Naval Guided Missile school (E-6), went to a party on Friday night and several sailors were called to submit for a urinalysis, including him...a random last 2 SSN call...on Monday. He had smoked some MJ at the party. His THC level was so low, it barely registered. The prosecuting JAG attorney was calling for an undesirable discharge. The board negated that and since he was a top performer and the THC level was so low, the sailor got a suspended bust (on condition he had no trouble for 1 year) and a fine for 2 months of $100 a month. Not much more than a slap on the wrist for being stupid.

Interesting you should ask this. I got a summons yesterday.
I had a bad week, and that just fit right in!
I've never served, though ... the other times I've been summoned, either the jury was filled before they got to me, or the accused pled out, or the trial was postponed. I'm hoping to luck out this time, too.
I wish I had an excuse.

I got a notice, but I was not selected
LOL, my first wife was afraid that she would get picked for a rapist trial. I told her to just say she believed "any man convicted of rape should have his ba!!s cut off" No defense lawyer you ever allow her on the jury.

I have been called three times in my lifetime, twice for county and once for federal court. I was dismissed all three times. It is hard for them to seat me because of my work, I have prior knowledge of a lot of local cases.

I wore a T-shirt that said "Kill them all and let God sort them out" to jury selection. I was asked to leave.
