I've heard of this but I'm little confused about it. What is it? If it's bad, can it be prevented?

When a female cat goes into heat it means she is fertile and can become pregnant if she comes in contact with a tom cat. They make a lot of "noise" meowing and such when in heat and roll around on the floor. They also stick their butts up in the air. They are wanting to mate. To prevent this, get the cat fixed (spayed). It will stop heat cycles and keep the cat from getting pregnant with unwanted kittens.

When the phrase "your cat is in heat is used" it basically means that your cat is prime for impregnation.

Yes, this can be bad if you do not want your cat to have kittens.

You will have to keep this cat locked up and away from all unneurterd /spayed cats.

As soon as your cat is "out of heat" get her/him fixed. It is more ecomonical than you can image.

There are places that can do it relatively cheap and safe.

In my state, CT, there is a mobile spay/neuter clinic that comes around once a month. They will not only spay but for a modest fee give her/him all their vaccinations.

It is called TEAM

This is when a female cat is ready to breed. They are usually very loud, meowing and squalling, trying everything to get outside to find a mate and will travel to find one. They will usually come in heat approx. every 3 weeks or so until they are bred. Spaying prevents this and unwanted kittens. Spaying is the surgical removal of the ovaries and the uterus.

This is the time during which a female cat can get pregnant. The only way to prevent it is to have the female cat spayed!

A cat in heat is very vocal, calling and calling for a male cat. She will roll and roll on the ground and constantly rub against furniture or your leg. She will assume a breeding posture with her head and front legs near the ground and the rump area held high. You may notice her urinating frequently.

There is a cure. Spaying your cat will eliminate all these signs of being in heat and also eliminate the risk of certain diseases including ovarian cancers and infections of the uterus.

Are you serious? This means that they are able to get pregnant at this time....get your animal spayed to prevent it. It is only bad if they get around a male cat who is not nurtured, then you get kittens. Only females come in heat in case you didn't know that either.

Basically your cat is going to get a period if you do not spay it. It will run around for a couple of days a month bleeding and howling. She will be sticking her butt up as to say "come and get some"

The only way to prevent is to get it fixed.

Yes, it's very bad. It means they are receptive to mating and want it really bad. Please get your cat spayed so it won't have unwanted kittens.
