So many Christians have logged into this question and answered so friendly and so honestly. I want to Thank You for the time you've taken to explain and elaborate yourself - non judgementally.

I am really going to have a hard time choosing a best answer!

To me, pushy, intolerant, and bigoted Christians are an embarrassment. However, I can only do so much damage control in regard to other people who claim to share my religion. For instance, I'm not a Fundamentalist and never have been, but the general public somehow gets the idea that all Christians are Fundamentalists, which couldn't be farther from the truth. So I sharply disagree with Fundamentalism, but because I also believe in religious freedom, I concede that the Fundamentalists have the right to believe what they wish.

As for what I believe, I was, like many people, raised in a certain religious tradition. In my case, the upbringing was extremely strict and extremely religious. There was no such thing as asking questions. But after I was a teenager and found myself orphaned, I started asking a great many questions, and am still doing so today. I've researched many different religions. I've chosen to stay in the church I was raised in after years of studying. But reading about other beliefs and philosophies, as well as attending the services of other religions, has helped me understand that there's a whole world outside of my own belief system. I no longer feel a need to claim that my religion is the only source of truth in the entire universe. If something outside of my religion strikes me as good, I don't hesitate to take inspiration from it.

All nontrinitarians take the position that the doctrine of the earliest form of Christianity was not Trinitarian. Typically, nontrinitarians explain that Christianity was altered as a direct and indirect consequence of the edicts of Constantine the Great, which resulted in the eventual adoption of Trinitarian Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire. Because it was at this time of a dramatic shift in Christianity's status that the doctrine of the Trinity attained its definitive development, nontrinitarians typically find the doctrine questionable. It is in this light that the Nicene Creed is seen by nontrinitarians as an essentially political document, resulting from the subordination of true doctrine to State interests by the leaders of Catholic Church, so that the church became, in their view, an extension of the Roman Empire.

Although Nontrinitarian beliefs continued to multiply, and among some people (such as the Lombards in the West) it was dominant for hundreds of years afterward, the Trinitarians gained the immense power of the Roman Empire. Nontrinitarians typically argue that the primitive beliefs of the Christianity were systematically suppressed (often to the point of death), and that the historical record, perhaps also including the Scriptures of the New Testament, was altered as a consequence.

I don't think the average "Christian" studies enough. God ask that we give over our lives to seeking him that means all things. Far too many "Christians" push God aside and only seek him when it benefits them. I used to be like that but I have found new answers and have taken the steps to a new path that God has laid before me. I have learned there are many many things I was taught growing up that are not even supported by the Bible such as church on Sunday, going straight to heaven or hell, God's master plan, the ressurection etc... For a Christian to be rude and hateful is totally against what Christ teaches about doing good to those who hate you. I believe what I believe due to the many times God has helped me out when I ask, yeah the atheist can say oh that's just a fluke but it has happened on far too many occasions for me to say it has no justification. As far as the right religion, I try not to categorize myself as having a single religion but as a follower, believer, teacher, lover, child of The One and Only God.

I believe what I believe because evolution doesn't have enough proof and neither do any other beliefs.

Christians who are rude and mean and are not following the Bible need to have a serious talk with God, and apologize to anyone they hurt. Or maybe they just struggle with that, since after all no ones perfect. Or like many Americans they say they are Christian when they really don't know what Christianity believes, and then they go out and do something totally against the Bible.

Personally, I am REALLY frustrated with people who believe in Christ but do horrible things in His name.

However, I'm often reminded that we are imperfect. No matter how one my strive to follow Christ, he will never be so in this mortal world (at least on his own accord).

I'm not perfect either, by far. Perhaps I don't have a clue, but I do have love.

Why do I believe what I believe? Hrm, hard one to answer. But I was looking at a pile of rocks today thinking to myself that even if every bit of mankind were to forget about Christ, the truth would remain (and the non-human part of the world would know as such).

If you know what a christian should be like why don't you become one & show us how to do it. We are christians in training, when you build a house you start with a foundation than the plumbing, walls, roof & so on. Some of us get stuck at some point in the prosess, like someone that has a.d.d. they done seem to understand certain things but that doesn't mean that they can't learn. What God has started He will accomplish.

Christianity is Jesus Christ, the one who died on the Cross for my sins. He is my Lord and Savior and the One who set me free from a life of bondage to legalism. Jesus is the only way to God.

How do you feel about non-Christians that are rude and mean and totally contradict whatever it is they believe?

I apologize for all the Christians that have been rude and mean to you. Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.

I know with absolute certainty that my Salvation is assured. I am of The True Christian Faith.... even the most caring Christian may inadvertantly come across as you describe... but no one of The True Faith would ever do so deliberatly... I do not say Christians are to just be all huggy kissy kissygoody two shoes... we have the right to defend ourselves by any means necessary if attacked...

If you have any honest question concerning the basics of The True Christian Faith feel fee to email me... or you may check me, and my Faith, out at: http://www.mikesfaith.com

I can't help but wonder what it is that you are trying to accomplish with this tirade of yours. Are you afraid there may be a God who will hold you accountable for what you do in this life? Are you trying to convince yourself there is no God by repudiating people who do believe there is a God?

It sure looks like it, when you attempt to lump everyone together, and condemn all for the actions of a few who really don't represent Christianity anyway.
