This was not a COT penalty, the car was too low in the right rear, it is a supsension penalty, and has nothing to do with modifying the COT.

I am guessing there will be a minor monetary fine, and 25 Point dock for Edwards, his Crew Chief may be suspended for 1-2 weeks, but I am guessing that will be delayed until next year, because NASCAR doe snot want to ruin the integrity of the cahse, by hurting a team.

But who knows, they are the most inconnsistant ruling body in sports, until teh COT violations, however this was just a ride height vio, so I would look for NASCAR to let it slide.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Carl Edwards was docked 25 points Tuesday because his race-winning car failed inspection at Dover International Raceway.

The penalty drops Edwards from third in the Chase for the championship standings to sixth. He's now 28 points behind series leader Jeff Gordon.

Team owner Jack Roush, who celebrated his 100th win Sunday with Edwards' victory, also was docked 25 owner points and crew chief Bob Osborne was fined $25,000.

A similar infraction occurred at New Hampshire in July, when the cars of Johnny Sauter and Kyle Busch failed to meet minimum height requirements. NASCAR took away 25 points apiece and fined each crew chief $25,000.

If a similar penalty is assessed, Edwards would drop from fourth to sixth in the Nextel Cup standings.

A $25,000 fine for Osborne and 25 points docked from Carl Edwards. The 100 points + $100,000 fines went to teams that intentionally made alterations to make their cars go faster. This infraction was deemed unintentional and it would have hindered speed rather than helped it. They may go to $50,000 + 50 points but I doubt it

I agree, the penalty will not be as severe for Carl as it has been for past violations of the same kind. Remember it is the Chase!
Nascar wants to keep those points tight$$$$$$$

If they stay consistent with what they have done the rest of the season then it will be 100 points, $100,000 and a 6 week vacation for the crew chief.
Since it is NASCAR, I don't really expect consistency. I am guessing that they may step up the penalties even more since it is the chase.

In order to be consistent with a very similar circumstance given to Kyle Busch and Johnny Sauter this season, it will be a small fine, 25 points docked from both the driver and owner, and crew chief probation.

probably if there is a penalty it will be 25,000 dollars and 25 points. he should get penalized. everyone is saying that it didn't help his car but he should still get penalized because jeff gordon was penalized at daytona because of something being too low but it again didn't help his car. so edwards needs to be penalized
