Christianity and homosexuality?

How do mainstream Christians justify allowing openly gay people to become ordained clergy, when the Bible says that homosexuality is a sin punishable by death?

It is just a sign that Christianity as it is commonly taught today is false. Women are not to teach the word of God, either. To touch a woman who is unclean makes one unclean. An unclean woman should not enter a church. You should not have sex out of wedlock. All of these things are Biblical law, but Christians today (not all, but most denominations) have strayed so far from the truth, there is no salvation for them. And to those who use Jesus as their excuse to pardon these act, remember, he said "Think not that I am here to destroy the laws of Moses, for I come not to destroy but to uphold." That may not be word-for-word, but it is VERY close. Jesus never once said "Well, you can ignore a couple of Gods laws, just make sure you strictly follow the ones you like." or "You can sin as much as you want, I'll cover for you."

Excactly. That's why our church pulled out of the American Baptist Conference because they allowed that to happen, and we don't agree with it because it is against God's Holy Word. There are a lot of churches that are not right with God. The United Church of Christ is another one that allows gays to be clergy. Read in Revelation-- Jesus' letters to the churches, and see what He condemns in them, and what He blesses.
That's why the personal relationship. There will be people saved from all different denominations because their HEARTS ARE RIGHT WITH GOD. Others won't be because they are not. If you follow what these false preachers are teaching, then, you will be held accountable also. The preacher, though are even more accountable because they are causing people to stray from God's Word. Be careful what church you attend!
The Bible tells us that in the last days there will be a "Falling Away" from the church. That is happening right now, as we speak. My nephew is a pastor of a church which just pulled out of their denomination because of the same reason. satan has his foot in the door of some churches for sure. The Bible warns us about this, though. NOT ALL CHURCHES ALLOW THIS. The ones right with God do not, anymore than they would allow a murderer, or an adulterer, or a theif, or a child molester be a clergy. They are all sins, and punishable by God. For those who are saying things like it's a sin to eat shellfish, or it's a sin to not have your hair covered, or touching a woman on her period is sinful, You are getting that from the Old Testament. Those are Jewish laws. So, you are grasping at straws on this one.

Our Bible does not say homosexuality is a sin, punishable by death. It is a sin all right( according to our Scriptures) but to God, sin is sin, and it is possible for it to be forgiven before Christ returns again to set up His Kingdom. Extremist Muslims believe homosexuality is a sin punishable by death. Isn't that taught in the Madrases to little boys in Pakistan ? It's also part of Sharia Law.
