I think they give you a warning first.
If the neighbors complain and call the cops they will come and if you say you're sorry and stop making noise they might not fine you.

They will find YOU, and cite you for a violation. ( find out first what it will cost ! ) I would hate to get a $300.00 fine as a surprise. Oh, if you are a jerk to the officer(s) the will usually take the time to take a police report and drop off a copy to your landlord Monday morning. Best advice, if they give you a warning DO NOT wait 5 min and turn it back up ! ( we ALWAYS get a call back from the pissed off neighbor) Offer the cop a soft drink and some chips (he/she will say no thanks) and they will usually say OK have fun and keep it down....... they just don't want to come back then a supervisor will get interested..........

The police notify you, not your landlord. If you did not get a citation at the time, you received a warning, nothing more.

Cops won,t contact your landlord but the person who called the cops probably will!~!

I think it depends on who made the call & what the actual noise was.
