ok I see alot of ppl who starve themselves say they are gaining weight. But would you always gain weight, like is that a fact??.... Alot of the responses are that your body has held on to every ounce of food you put in it cuz it thinks it may never get another meal......well cant you just burn that fat its holding onto off?? Or is exercise not gonna do any good??......up until that point.

When you starve yourself, it's true that the body is going to hang on to fat stores as much as possible. This is why anorexics may appear thin but always have a high bodyfat percentage.
If you exercise a lot but do not eat enough, your body will utilize muscle proteins and other tissue for energy well before utilizing fat stores. So, if you starve yourself and work out a lot, you'll still have a lot of bodyfat since it's not being released for energy. Again, this is an adaptive trait humans have developed during times of famine in order to survive.
Eventually, when muscle tissue is used up, you will also use bodyfat, but by the time it's significantly reduced you'll have so many health problems, probably permanent health problems, that it will not make it worthwhile. It's a wonder to me that with all the available health information out there these days that people continue to prescribe to the idea of starvation as a means of weight loss.

Its because when they starve heaps they get lower metabolisms so their food doesn't burn easier when they do eat and like you said your body holds onto what it thinks it wont be getting again... Its known that if you lose heaps of weight and once your more likely to gain it back than if you lose 1/2-1 kg a week and people who starve try to go at a faster rate.

Exercise always helps: it increases the metabolism, and also releases endorphins, which gives a feeling of wellness. Starving oneself does no good, as the body doesn't no when it's going to receive more food.
It's better to eat more frequent small meals of fresh vegetables, whole grains, fresh fruit, and to eat the larger meals earlier in the day. Junk food and processed food is no good, as it hides sugars and complex fats that the body stores away as extra weight. It's best to keep one's diet as close to the original source as possible, in order to control what you're putting into your body.

Starving yourself is the worst thing you can do for your body. It's what leads to obesity, next to binging and overeating. The worst part, is that starving yourself will lead to binging and overeating - so you get a double whammy of fat-making habits.
Want to keep a slim body? Eat - and then exercise off the calories. Don't eat fat - that should be disgusting to you, but eat healthy food and drink lots of water. Get plenty of exercise. Good luck.

dear, if you want to lose weight, you must eat less. Because, you know, there is about 400 calories in a little bun without any fillers. To burn them you will have to march all the day long, without pausing, and you won't be eating one bun a day, right? It's just not possible to burn all the calories by exercising, or it must be very rigorous exercise, like professional athletes.

yes your body is holding on to every calorie but your metabolism slows down so it burns off at a slower rate.
Also some of the weight is also water. they miht not be eating but they're still drinking water.

you'll always gain weight. if you don't eat, your metabolism gets slower and slower...and when finally food comes in, the metabolism goes sooo slow that you'll have to gain weight. so if you excercise and eat A LOT of food, you'll get a faster metabolism and a better body then those kids who starve themselves.
