...as long as the gay person in question doesn't act on their gay impulses?

So you're saying that, if two gay men, for example, love each other, but are afraid of hell, they should never be together? They have to either be alone for the rest of their lives, or enter into a sham marriage with a woman they don't love and have no sexual interest in?

What kind of hell on earth would that be?

I'm aware that not all Christians believe this, this is directed at those who do.

Catholic Crusader, I'm just trying to understand why you hate love so much. And if your god is evil enough to deny people love, why should I worship him?

Oh, and how juvenile do you have to be to go "Hurr, you're asking a question about gay people, you must be gay, hurr!" I thought people grew out of that in middle school. No, I'm not gay. I know many people who are and I don't think teir rights should be denied.

I'm a gay Christian, so I do not believe that.

If God had ever said that to me at all, believe me, I would do my best. But instead, God led me to the very unpopular idea that He made gay people for a reason and loves them and welcomes them into His kingdom just as He does heterosexuals.

Let's give you what the Bible says because that is what a Christian is supposed to do. The Bible says that homosexuality is a sin. It also says that lying, premarital sex, adultery in the heart(imagining), murder in the heart(imagining), envy, drunkeness and other things are sins. A gay person will not make it into heaven by just stopping homosexual behavior. The same thing goes for if a person stops lying or committing adultery in the heart. What gets a person into heaven is being born-again. This is when you allow the Holy Spirit into your heart by asking Jesus to forgive you of all your sins. When Jesus forgives a person of their sins He forgives them of past, present and future sins becasue the person is going to sin again. The Holy Spirit will comfort and help the born-again person to want to do right and refrain from hurting God and others. Do not listen to those who profess Christianity and don't even know what the Bible says.

It seems that homosexuality is the "buzz" word now here in R&S. However there are many, many other sins as well- I will tell you something- I know a gay person that does not have sex because he has become a Christian- and knows that it is wrong, however he cannot pretend that he is heterosexual and marry a woman- I also know a woman who is in her 50's that is heterosexual and never been married- but is still a virgin, because she believes wholeheartedly that sin before married in wrong, and her relationship with Christ is what it the most important thing to her. I am not saying that abstaining from any sin, sexual or not, is easy, and sometimes we fall, but if Christ really saved us from our sin, and rose from the dead- the power of God is stronger to keep us from sinning, then our weakness is to fall into the sin. And by they way, it is not an issue of being afraid of hell, that keeps us from sinning- because Christ paid the price for our sin- but the issue is obedience and living to please God, before ourselves.

Actually, to be quite honest with the scriptures, the true conversion to Christianity involves the death of the old man, and rebirth (born again) of a new man. This is a supernatural event. The Bible says that "all things are passed away and all things are made new". It is a brand new beginning. That is what baptism represents, dying to yourself (going in to the water) and rising again in the new man.
This is also why Jesus said that if anyone is to follow Him, he must "take up his cross" and follow. What is the cross? It was an instrument of death. So really, it has nothing to do with impulses or self-control. It has everything to do with being "born again".

Romans 6:5-7
For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.

I find it is so easy for people, Christians and not alike, to stray away from the issue at hand.

It's not that we are supposed to make ourselves 'clean'! Sinners are everywhere, not only the Gays. If a person is not Gay they are still a sinner.

Trusting in God by believing in Jesus Christ changes that. It means that God looks at us as 'covered' by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. So the sins are not imputed on us, but that's not all! He told us that we are also recipients of the Holy Spirit, who works with us; He changes us.

So two Gay men might feel the need to separate themselves from each other. But only according to where they are spiritually, what they are being guided or influenced in according to the will of God. I would not demand anything of those guys. It's their relationship with God that is the question, not what I might think of their relationship with God.

I am Bi, and I haven't had sex in years! I have survived and I do not consider myself to be living in Hell. I am only reacting to what God has influenced me to do.

The same respect ought to be given to them.

We ALL make some sort of sacrifices in our lives, even non-Christians. But Christians are told to "take up your cross and follow Me" by Christ. That means to deny self.

Because God finds the act of homosexuality to be an abomination, anyone who practices it is an unrepentant sinner.

And no, they don't have to be alone or "enter into a sham marriage." God is willing and able to restore a normal life to those who seek Him

What about God creating hermaphrodites? Like your finger print is unique to you, your physical, emotional, mental and yes sexual traits are too.

Christians have always been opposed to any sex. Even married sex is supposed to be something you do for procreation only, not for fun.

It's rooted back in the medieval era when people were convinced that to lead a holy life and have a chance for heaven, you had to deny yourselves all earthly pleasures.

This type of thinking is still present today, but it's now has taken form of being opposed to anything deemed "deviant", whether it be oral sex, homosexuality, vibrators or pornography. Some even go further and compare these "vices" to pedophilia and rape, apparently unable to see the crucial difference of adult consent.
