Doctors are Officers. you need to not only have the degree, you must have also completed your internship before you can apply for a Commission.

Not much need for pediatricians in the Military though. Most of the ones at military hospitals are civilians.

Do you want to go to college first, then join as doctor or enlist then go to college?

If you want to enlist pick a job in the medical field with the shortest contract you can. Probably 3 or 4 years. During your time off you might be able to pick up a college class or two from a community college or online. It is not unheard of for people to get out of the military with 1 or 2 years of college. (don't assume you will though, people in the military work long hours) Then you would need to go to a University and get your B.S, take the MCAT, then apply to med. school. The G.I bill with HELP pay, but it probably won't cover everything.

If you want to become a doctor first then join, there ROTC scholarships you can apply for. Then after you became a doctor you would get a direct commission I believe and start out as an O3.

Do a google search for more information on the Air Force Medical Corps.

Not everyone in the Air Force flies a plane. There are many career choices in the military and it is a good place to grow and learn. And to fly you have to be an officer which means a college degree and then you have to hope to get into pilot training - there are limited slots available. Get all the facts about what you want to do. Talk to a recruiter about what the Air Force can offer and what type of jobs are out there. There is a lot to consider and learn.

There are several paths you can take. One is to go to college on your own dime, along with medical school after that, then enter the Air Force Medical Corps in the rank of Captain. Another would be to enter college by way of the Air Force ROTC program, then on to medical school on your own dime, followed by a commission in the Medical Corps in the rank of Captain. The third way is to go to college on the Air Force ROTC program, then attempt to get admitted to the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences at Bethesda, Maryland where you will be going through medical school on the Air Force, followed by commission as a Captain.
In all of these instances you would still have to go through a residency as a pediatrician before become eligible to take the boards for certification as a pediatrician, following completion of medical school.
You need to talk to an Air Force recruiter and ask that recruiter to arrange an appointment with the officer selection office.
