From God's point of view, no doubt He knew about it. I think a better question is from our point of view, how does it matter?
I can see it mattering in this way: I know that nothing takes God by surprise, I know that He's in control of it all. Even if something unpleasant is coming into our lives, He knows about it and He's got His hand on you. This isn't to say everything is easy, but that He has a purpose for it all.

What you are suggesting is predestination! And if our whole lives are laid out in a certain pattern, and everything falls into place, as in next week you will die? That also negates free will!
So, no! We make our own destinies, otherwise, why should we bother? What is the point? If we believe in God, then we are here to learn, and progress, so that we can return to our Father in heaven!
For those who don't believe in God, just living a good life is what matters to them, I suppose, as I am not them, and will not assume to say! When you have a crisis, and have been plunged into the darkness of night? The only thing you can do is fall back on whatever you believe to get you through! Faith? Or, even the knowledge that tomorrow will be easier!
Peace and love

"Do we have certain destinies to fulfill in life?" implies some sort of pre-destiny set up by a super being or some sort of intelligence. The answer therefore MUST be no.
The second part is more like reality. However it is only ours to create if we know that we can. Learning is all!

I don't believe that things happen because of some outer control or plan. I believe that sometimes things just happen. when bad things happen I just remind myself that I can get through it. I seems so simple but it makes a world of difference for me. Next thing you know things are looking up and you feel better then ever. Sometimes you just got to put your head down and plow through. What you said reminded me of a quote:
"I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe. "

We stand too close to the painting to understand it.
We are unable to put these pieces of the puzzle together.
We have many tasks to perform and do not recognise why we are in a certain place at a certain time to do one of them.
If even if we suffer, it is for our good, even though we cannot understand it.
The Lord has given and the Lord has taken away. Praised be the name of the Lord.

We do the best we can and make good choices and that creates history as we go along.
