It is ok if I can only access the footage through connecting it to a tv or laptop. I don't necessarily need it to be accessible on a hard-drive.

I'm ok if I have access to the footage through connecting it to a tv or laptop. It doesn't necesssarily have to be a hard-drive model.

I also need it to be Mac-compatible.

All camcorders on the market can be instantly connected to a tv or laptop and the footage replayed. So you need to refine your requirements a great deal further if you want recommendations.

Almost every camcorder ever made can be connected to a TV and replayed instantly.

Also a very large percentage of modern camcorders have an LCD screen on the side which allows instant replay.
