It relies upon on how deep the wound is,first of all examine for any glass or splinters and in the adventure that your particular there are none and its not too deep, bathe his wound in heat salty water two times an afternoon for some days, this prevents germs and can preclude an infection or perhaps sparkling any no remember if this is person-friendly, and its superb to not conceal it as sparkling air can help heal a wound and that way you are able to save a watch on how properly its therapeutic, yet determine to scrub it after he has used his clutter tray, this ought to heal it yet whilst it hasn't better after approximately 3 days then he will prefer a vets help, and if its brought about with the aid of a bite wound he will prefer antibiotics or it wont heal otherwise.

if your cat received this wound in a cat fight, you must take it to the vet so that you can learn the proper way to care for it which involves removing the scab as it forms daily so that the bacteria from the other cat's mouth can be expelled. Failure to do this can cause quite toxic reation.
Since you did not specify how the cat received the wound, and maybe you do not know, then go ahead and check with a vet.
Mostly it is ok to use the antibiotic creams on animals. But you still need to address it with a vet if it was received in a cat fight.

If it is a topical medication, such as Neosporin, that's fine. But most cats will just wipe it off...they hate feeling dirty! Oral medication is a BIG no-no. Humans are much larger objects, and even half of a human dosage is usually too much for a 100 lbs. dog. What do you think thats going to do to your little kitty?
Depending on how he got the wound, you might want to take him to the vet anyway. If he got it from another cat, diseases are spread easily, so you might have a bigger problem than just the wound.

A wound on the face can rapidly become an infected abscess. Your cat needs to see a vet. Topical treatments like neosporine the cat will try and lick off. And oral human antibiotics are absolutely not OK and may kill your cat.

Cats are really clean creatures, so if your cat got this one fighting with another cat or something like that, you can leave it be. Cat saliva is poisonous and antibiotic, but not for themselves. If the wound is big, go see a vet. Human antibiotics are used for cats, but in very measured doses that the vet will have to prescribe.

just use q-tips and clean it with peroxide. do this 2 or 3 times a day and it should clean up nicely. while i have been told it is OK to use an antibiotic ointment on my animals by 3 different vets, they also say that it should not be placed anywhere that the cat can lick it off or wipe it off with a paw and lick it off the paw. so i wouldn't use it on the face

No, they might be too strong for his weight or even make him worse off. Use a little neosporin, or buy the wound cleanser for animals, its like yellow in color, sold at pet stores. Clean it out gently, most likely it will just heal on its own, unless it is deep.

NO!
Don't give them actual human antibiotics, that's bad.
But it wont do any harm to use gentle or antiseptic topical treatments. Wrap kitty in a towel and watch your fingers, hold him good and use a cotton ball with some peroxide or a little iodine to clean it, and put on a little neosporin. I had a tom who used to fight with our apartment's resident cats and always got his shoulders and ears scraped(the others came out much worse off, he was a huge old thing) and this is what we did.
=) good luck.

nooooo! i would not do that. A human dose of antibiotics is way too strong for a cat. try and let the wound heal on its own, and take him to the vet if it does not heal or gets infected

Never give human medication to an animal unless a vet tells you to.
