When I go to Penn Station I enter under the Madison Square Garden sign.
You don't say where you are coming from. Hopefully it is into
Penn Station and not Grand Central. I think you would have to take a subway from Grand Central to Penn.
on 32nd st between 7th and 8th

From Connecticut, depends which station are you coming too. Drive/Taxi/Bus it to Stratford Station because Waterbury Branch only operates peak hour. BUY BEFORE YOUR BOARD THE TRAIN TO AVOID HIGHER FARE. $16.50 PEAK OR $12.50 OFF-PEAK FROM TICKET VENDING MACHINE OR TICKET OFFICE. 1. Take Metro-North to Grand Central. 2. Have $4 ready in Regular MetroCard (so you could return to Grand Central Central) 3. Take 42nd St Shuttle or Times Sq-bound (7) to 34th St-Penn Station. 4. Take downtown (1)(2)(3) train to 34th St-Penn Station. 5. Follow sign to Madison Sq Garden. I'll enclose the New Haven Line schedules for three branches,, and Madison Square Garden website.

Get a train, subway, or path into Penn Station, New York.

The station is under 'the garden'.
