I do medical transcription. You take a course from At-Home Professions, and then you can either go get your own doctors to transcribe for (they tell you how) or else you can work for someone who finds the doctors and hires girls to transcribe (such as MediScripts). Then they pay you instead of you getting paid directly from the doctors.
I would suggest doing the latter for a couple of years, and when you have more experience, you can make a little more by finding your own doctors. I don't want to find my own doctors, so I'll probably stick with what I'm doing.
The course is not hard at all -- enjoyable in fact. You don't need any medical background, but you will want to be able to type at least 60 wpm. The faster you type, the more you can make. Some full-time gals make around $60,000. I'm part time; I couldn't sit any longer! But time flies, you're done with your work before you know it. I have plenty of time to homeschool my three kids.
You can take the $900 course or the $3000 course. You can make payments. If you have NO medical background, I suggest the more expensive course. You do it at home and take as little or as much time as you want/need.
This is a profession that is very much in demand, and always will be, unlike makeup or jewelry or plastic bowls.
I quit babysitting when I had to spend more money than I was making to cure my own kids of the illnesses the other kids brought to my house!

Tons of ways. I'm an entrepreneur and have been for some time. There is a really neat lady that you should talk to. She's worth the time to talk to, is an accomplished author, really has it on the ball and a phenomenal business woman. Her name is Kip Garrett but you can find her via her website: startmyinternetbusiness.com. I found her a while back and she created this great book by the same name as her DOT com site.
Don't discount her site as being just another person looking to make a buck off someone else. I almost did but something kept telling me to read all the way through and more importantly scroll all the way down to the bottom of that page of hers....
If you'd like to email me in person to verify I am indeed a real person I welcome it. Email: aprilia_racer_chick@yahoo.com
Additionally I have had great success with being an independent contractor wherein I evaluate the customer service aspects of various retailers and food service industry organizations. Some would call that a Mystery Shopper. I call it challenging, fun...and often times 'tasty' work....plus you get paid. If you'd like details on that I can recommend several reputable sites...all of which never require you to give them a dime to work for you.
NOTE: Just in case anyone is wondering...I do not get any type of kickback for mentioning any of that...just looking to 'pay it forward' the way someone did for me....
Good luck to you...and don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something. "A man (or woman) is what he thinks about." Think positive thoughts of success!

If you dont mind domestic duties you can try
Ironing (charge by the basket )
Sewing repairs
If you dont mind mundane work try 'outworking' this is when local factories drop off bulk small components to you and you put them together.
If you are looking for desk work there is
telemarketing
data entry
editing
typing up university papers
appointment making
I know you are an at home Mum but if its possible to put the kids in a pram and maybe some of them walk you could do advertising mail delivery or delivery of the local paper
if you like crafts how about photo sorting?
people give you their photos and albums and you arrange them for them (I know I have boxes of pics just waiting to be sorted!!) If you do scrap booking this could be really fun.
what about something more organic?
If you have the room outside get some chickens and sell free range eggs (more people are into free range as am I and they are a fortune at my local supermarket)
you could grow some veg /flowers / start seedlings and have a roadside market
You can sell on ebay anything from clothes to toys to books to household items
Party plan
there are lots of companies selling by party plan
Avon
Nutrimetics
Tupperware
Jewellery
Clothing & bedding
toys
health products
Try some of your local specialist shops and sell for them either by party plan, online or thru catologues
Have a garage sale everyone had stuff they no longer need have a weekend long sale great opportunity for a clean out too!
There a lot of online schemes but I have never heard of anyone except the 'leaders' actually making any real money so I would be careful of them.

im in the same position , and i have been trying to earn some residual income online . I did make a small bit through doing online surveys at cashcrate dot com & surveyspot.com, try this link :
https://www.surveyspot.com/join/Join.faces?VendorID=33&OptInSource=usgen&locale=en_US
I just got my first cheques two days back so i can recommend these two sites with confidence coz intially even i was sceptical about making money through surveys. Beware this work requires time and patience and one can get bored easily after clicking on millions of pages to earn a few cents. I am also writing for this particular site which pays if ur articles recieve good reviews and i can send you an invite if you are the creative sort , just email me. hope something works for u. frankly speaking im looking for a suitable part time job which will give me steady income.

I also looked into the Mystery Shopper or Secret shopper thing in the small local paper around here and called 2 of them. One was shady and the other seemed to be okay. I just don;t like that I have to pay out what ever the secret shopper of the day is and they will rein-burst me with my receipt and paperwork that I have to send them. Also I was a Dental Hygienist for 10 yrs. then decided to go back to school for Respiratory Therapy Care Practitioner, I took all the prereques and applied for this very hard program to get into and got in because of my 4.0 that I worked my but off for. So I took the classes and then some for Med transcript like Med Term ect.... I know the human body like the back of my hand but sadly while I was in Respiratory Program I became ill and had to drop all the hard work I put in:(
Could someone tell me about secret shopper, and med trans job and salary more in depth. I'm disabled now and was sent to one of the best top notch hospitals in the nation.
If anyone out there has heard of anyone that got sick postpartum please give me a shout or email. I can't find anything on the net or anyone that has gone Thur anything like this, they think it's something auto immune. You guys are great and thanks for reading my novel! If it helps too my Friend made 45 grand last year on eBay and she has 2 kids, she just said it was very time consuming and would go tot he real posh areas for garage sales and, her house was so full of clutter and the time of taking pictures was annoying. So she started her own web site that moms would trade toys instead of giving them away or throwing them away they would trade each other and her site seemed to hit it off very well!! Thanks again Tea

I can see why you dont want to baby sit, with 5 kids already!
Check online, there are alot of legitimate ways to work from home. You can even learn transcribing from home and there are always people looking for that, and the pay is not bad either if you get in with the right company. Also, ..think of a hobby you really enjoy , and make money at it. Do you like to draw? ...make greeting cards, ...and sell them later on at the holiday fairs, or any craft you enjoy.

I have a friend who is a stay at home mom and makes money several ways : one she talked to some doctors in the area and she seals envelopes for them and takes them to the post office and makes $250.00 per month. She also has a couple of houses that she cleans when her husband gets home @45.00 every 2 weeks which is $90.00 so she makes $180.00 per month. $250.00+$180.00 is $430.00 per month.
If there is a craft fair in the area, she will order jewelry and sell it at the fairs. Sometimes she will cater a party on the weekends like for a baby shower or something like that. She also bakes for events and charges like $100.00 for cookies and brownies , stuff like that...The Chamber of Commerce is always having luncheons and you can make the food at home and let someone pick it up.....Make a brochure and list your food and just make it a soup and sandwich and dessert kind of thing and list a price....You may get plenty of calls from business people who need a luncheon.....this is alot of fun but hard work...you can also take a cake decorating class and make wedding, party cakes from home. My friend's daughter just got married and she paid $450.00 for a wedding cake that was made at home and really I could of made a better cake than that. It was decorated with fresh roses. Not any detaling at all....good luck.....

There are lots of things you can do from home; I was recently looking into the matter for a case study in evening class. Some involve use of your communication talents others your selling techniques. Home-parties, plastics, juwellery, night garments and many many more. Ironing for a neighbour - a new idea seems to be taking off really well. Other ways were for on-line community building: my friend gave me a couple to look into so I'll pass them onto you and see what you can make of them. They are established companies and offer many possibilities only your own input required. Go here http://www.aliveworldwide.com/11297 this is health and nutrition. Another is http://www.uvme.biz/EVO173011BC is a new program though well established. There are other programs that you can use for earning such as ebay or bidding sites, adwords though these depend on your level of experience with internet.
