Yes.
Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."
Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.
Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person, anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.
For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 2352 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art6.htm#2352
With love in Christ.

Yes, it is a sin.
It is using the gift of your sexuality in an abusive manner.
Only people married to each other should be engaging in sexual activity, and that activity is supposed to be a complete giving of self to the other person- not about receiving anything.
The good news is- if husband and wife both do this, everyone is happy.
Masturbation is about taking that gift that is supposed to be for your husband and using it up yourself. You can also run into issues in marriage because the sensation from masturbation is different than normal sexual relations. Many men and women who masturbate do it because they becoem hooked on the high...and like any high, you need more and more each time to get the same results. It doesn't work that way in marital relations because you are not there to receive, you are there to give.

The Catholic Church became into based by using Jesus. people who say that the Catholic Church began for the period of the time of Constantine are incorrect. there is not any historic evidence pointing to this. by using the time the Edict of Milan, permitting non secular tolerance (some revisionist erroneously say that this edict created the Catholic Church and made it the respectable church of Rome) became into proclaimed there had already been greater desirable than 50 popes that reigned from the time of Peter. The Church became into already talked approximately by using fact the Catholic Church as early as advert 107 in accordance to the writings of St. Ignatius of Antich. it is extremely conceivable that the term already utilized for the period of the 1st century. specific, the fundies and evangelicals have new heretical doctrines that weren't taught by using the Apostles of Jesus. those fake doctrines are in accordance with their incorrect interpretation of th Bible. And the unusual ingredient is that quite a few those fundies say that they are the only real Christians and that Catholics are actually not Christians.

I'm Catholic, but I couldn't care less whether masturbating is a sin or not. Its a completely natural and normal things to do. Orthodox relgions make sex and sexual activities out to be morally wrong, when it is a part of our nature. It seems ridiculous and I really don't think that God has a problem with us masturbating.

It is a sin. It separates the act from the pro-creative purpose for which sex exists and it an adulterous act against your spouse or future spouse.

It is a body function and therefore not a sin. It CAN be used to sin, though, so be careful.
